Chapter 41

"Yes,dad. A-huh. I'm on my way" I immediately hang up the phone and just remained focus on the road. I'm heading in the site.

Isang linggo na nang simulan iyon ng grupo ni Kael. At isang linggo na rin akong kinukulit ni daddy na samahan lagi si Kael. How unprofessional.

Thanks to my sub doctor, he's really good at saving people. Buti ay hindi ako kinakausap ni lolo. Kung hindi ay lagot ako dahil madalas ay wala ako ro'n.

I shouldn't be here, monitoring them. Because I know how good Kael is when it comes of taking his works properly. In fact, I have nothing to do here. I don't have any knowledge about this. All I do here is to watch them lifting those hard and heavy materials,cover my mouth when they are doing something using so many sock of sands. To be honest, I cannot abate any of their works.

That's why I'm giving them some foods they could eat. I don't know why my dad is really pushing me here. I graduated in a med school. Not in an engineer school right? If meron man no'n.

Dumaan muna ako sa isang drive thru bago tuluyang dumiretso sa site.

"Naku! Thank you ma'am. Gutom na po kami" bungad nila sa'kin. They are all sitting in a large log. Some of them are still working.

Mukhang break time nila.

"Kuya. Kain po" I called them while gesturing my hand.

"Salamat,ma'am" sabi nila pagkarating sa pwesto ko. Umupo sila sa upuang bato.

"Where's Engineer. Mendoza? Hindi man lang kayo pinapakain?" Kunot noong tanong ko nang makita kung paano sila kumain.

"Umalis po kasi, ma'am" tumigil ang isa sa pag-kain at tumingin sa'kin.

"May pupuntahan daw po" at tinuloy ulit ang pagnguya.

They are all chewing their foods non-stop. Like they didn't ate for the past 10 years. Oh god.

"The nerve of that guy" Iritadong sabi ko.

I left them for a moment so they can eat properly. Baka mahiya sila kapag tinitigan ko lang sila.

I roamed around the site. They are building new hallow blocks. I think they are rebuilding it. And it seems like this one is stronger than before.

Some of the paints were placed on the top of the woods. The equipments they used earlier were properly fixed.

Nakarinig ako ng sasakyang huminto.

Hindi gaanong maingay ang site kapag nagpapahinga sila. Kaya rinig agad kung may paparating.

A few moments, I heard someone is coming at my place.

"You are here?" He asked. I turned to him. He's wearing a black jeans,black polo shirt while holding a white hard hat.

"Isn't obvious?" Nakataas kilay kong sabi. Hindi ko alam kung bakit amoy na amoy ko siya mula rito. Is it because of the amount he sparyed on his shirt or it is because of how close our distance is?

Nakaliliyo ang bango niya. Ramdam ko kung gaano kainit dito sa site. Pero hindi ko alam na mas mainit pa pala ang mga titig niya.

"Akala ko ay hindi ka pupunta" malambot ang tinig niya. At 'yon ang tinig na lalong nakakapagpawala ng sarili!

"C-can you step backwards?" Utal kong sabi. Nakita kong sumilay ang nakakaloko niyang ngisi. Kaya naman agad kong iniwas ang tingin sa kaniya.

Damn it!

"What? Anong nakakatawa?" Nanatuli akong nakatingin sa malayo. Ayokong tignan siya. Nakaka-inis lang.

"Wala naman. Nagugutom ka ba?" Oo!

"Hindi. Kumain na ako. And I'm about to leave too" inayos ko ang itim na shoulder bag ko.

"Hatid na kita?" Natawa ako sa sinabi niya.

"May kotse ako. Salamat" nagsimula na akong maglakad papalayo sa kaniya. Ngunit muntik na akong matumba dahil sa mga bato. Buti na lang ay agad akong hinawakan ni Kael sa bewang. Pero mas mukhang malalaglag pa ata ako sa kaniya dahil sa ginagawa niya at hindi dahil sa mga bato na 'to.

I pushed him slightly. "T-thank you"  nakayukong sabi ko.

"Next time kapag pupunta ka sa site mag suot ka ng sneakers" tinignan niya ang heels kong ngayon ay nadumihan dahil sa alikabok.

While I'm on my way back to the hospital, I can't resist to be mad at my self. Like how could you be so close like that to him. How could you do such things and imagine such things like that when in the very first place he left you just to be with that bitch. How could you, Acia.

Hanggang sa makarating sa ospital ay 'yon lang ang laman ng isip ko.

Kaya naman pina-uwi na lang ako ni Doc. Raul na siyang sub ko sa araw na 'to. Baka raw ay hindi tama o tumugma ang diagnosed ko sa mga bata at mamali ang prescription na ibibigay ko.

Lutang ako sa buong maghapon.

Ang hindi ko kasi maintindihan, bakit parang ang dali sa'kin at sa kanya lahat?

Bakit parang walang nangyari?

Bakit masarap siyang kausap kahit masakit?

Bakit ang dami kong tanong per ni Isa sa kanila hindi ko masagot?
