 "how could i forget?"

you smiled at the photograph that wonpil handed to you, nostalgia flooding your senses. it was a picture of you and wonpil, dressed up cutely for picture day at your old elementary school.

"i remember how grumpy and embarrassed you were when you realized that no one had dressed up as much as you did," wonpil chuckled, looking at the photograph. you laughed along with him, spiraling into a conversation about your memories with each other.

"remember that one time when we built that treehouse in your backyard and refused to go down?" wonpil laughed as he remembered the way that his parents would bring up snacks to the treehouse, since they were too stubborn to leave it. "those were good times..."

suddenly, the air in the room seemed to fill with sadness. wonpil stared at you, his eyes tearing up.

"but... now that we're going off to different high schools, i guess we won't see each other for a while."

"hey, don't think like that!" you exclaimed, hitting wonpil in the arm. your eyes were starting to wet as well, looking at wonpil's sad expression. "we'll still have time to have fun, i'm sure of that!"

wonpil tried his best to brighten up his expression, mumbling an agreement. you sighed, grabbing his hand.

"i promise you, i will never forget you. we will have chances to fool around like we did when we were young." you looped your pinky around his, smiling brightly. "pinky swear."

wonpil grinned back at you, tears flowing down his cheeks. he embraced you tightly, his tears soaking into your shirt. you smiled, hugging him back.
