"huh?" chenle's face then grew red as shook his head before looking elsewhere, "nevermind.."
hyein's reply didn't mean she didn't hear him, she did hear him but she was bewildered with his question like she never thought he'll ask her that. the two grew silent as hyein kept feeding herself since she didn't like the awkwardness
she scooped a spoonful of the fried rice again and held it to his mouth, hoping he'll take it. chenle's eyes flickered to the spoon and to her face before deciding to accept it
hyein let out a small smile when she saw him munching on it before placing the spoon on the plate as a sigh left her mouth. "i have never been in a relationship"
chenle's eyes rounded with his mouth opened - thank god all of the food have been swallowed first, surprise was written all over his face. "wait really?" hyein was confused on why he looked so shock but nodded nonetheless
then the surprise left his face and was replaced with confusion, his brows were knitted as his lips pouted without his notice. "then who was that guy?.." "huh?"
chenle raised his head and quickly shake his head as he wore a smile, "nevermind" he was sure hyein didn't hear him since he mumbled it. hyein then shrugs before continuing to eat the food till it was all gone

after accompanying hyein wash the dishes, both teenagers head back to their own rooms. chenle jumped to his bed as he landed with a soft thud, he had his arms open wide as he stared at the ceiling with many thoughts running through his head
"if she has never been in a relationship..." "then... who was the person on the phone with her?" chenle's brows were knitted as he tried to think of any possible answers to his question from last year
chenle took a liking towards hyein since last year. how? even chenle couldn't explain it. just like the famous saying, "you can fall for anyone, anytime, anywhere for no reason" or sometimes there's a valid reason or you could be like chenle :
fell in love at first hit. allow me to fill you up with the details,
last year was chenle's first year in high school and so was hyein. the midterms were coming up and chenle decided to go to the school's library to find some books for him to study. the male wandered around until he found the aisle he needed
he noticed a ladder in front of the shelves with a girl on it, he paid no attention to the girl and took a space right beside the ladder. his hand crawled up as his eyes scanned the books in front of his eyes
a silent "ah" exclamation left his lips when his eyes caught the book he needed for the history exam tomorrow. just as his hand was about to reach up to grab the book, a sudden pain shot to his head
out of reflex, his hand shot up to touch his head as he winced from the pain. chenle looks down as he rubbed the top part of his head to soothe the pain.
the loud sound of a book dropped to the ground alarmed the girl, she immediately looks down to finally notice what she just caused.
"o-oh, i'm sorry!.." she hurriedly climbed down the ladder, once she was on the ground - she quickly placed the remaining books in her arms on the floor before approaching him as her face had guilt written all over it
the girl was grabbing books as well for the exam tomorrow, she grabbed too much and one fell from her arms and accidentally hit chenle's head who was below her. coincidentally, it was a heavy book because of its thick and hardcover
the girl stared at the pained male as her face grimaces at imagining how painful to get hit from that thick book. she gathered all of her courage to gently tap his shoulder,
"does.. it still hurt? i'm really sorry.." the girls's voice trailed off as she felt really apologetic. the girl waited for chenle to finally be okay and fortunately, it didn't take long. as soon as the pain on his head subsided, chenle stopped rubbing his head and slowly raised his head to meet her eyes
and like any cliche scene ever, chenle felt like the world stopped with time frozen along with it. chenle's eyes bore to the angelic face of the girl for a long time which made the girl confused. she rose a brow at his blank face until she waved her hand in front of his face which snapped him back to reality
"o-oh sorry, umm.. it's fine, it didn't hurt a lot" chenle tried to help cover his lie by wearing an assuring smile as he let out an awkward chuckle. lucky for him, the girl seemed to easily believe his words
"really? that's a relief.." the girl's expression immediately relaxed before passing a smile towards the male. chenle couldn't help but also smiled at seeing the sweet smile on the girl's face. the two kept on passing smiles as an awkward silence was created around them and it bothered her a lot
until she remembered that she wasn't supposed to take to long in the library, she quickly turns around to pick up the books she left on the floor earlier. chenle's eyes followed her actions as she slowly turns around with more than 5 books in her arms
"i uhh.. i need to go.." she awkwardly said as she tried to support the weight in her arms. chenle who was still captivated from her beauty - took a few minutes to process her words before nodding furiously.
just as the girl was about to start walking, chenle quickly stopped her. she turns around as a small "hmm?" left her lips.
chenle only grinned before taking the book he needed earlier before taking steps to stand right beside her
"i'll go with you!" it seemed like chenle sounded more excited than he intended to be but the girl only chuckled before nodding
as the two walked to the exit of the library, chenle noticed she was struggling to hold the books in her arms so being the gentleman he is, he decided to help
"here, i'll help" chenle voluntarily took a few books out of her arms into his own. the girl wasn't able to say anything as he was too fast to do it. the girl only gave him another smile
"thank you uh..." "chenle, zhong chenle"
the girl stopped in her tracks which chenle followed. she didn't say anything as she kept on staring at him with an unreadable expression which made chenle curious
but then she suddenly outstretched her hand as she wore a warm smile on her pink lips
"nice to meet you chenle" chenle looked at her outstretched hand before putting all of the books in his arms into his left and outstretched his right hand to shake hers - that action made the girl stifled her laughter
"nice to meet you too..." "hyein, min hyein"
