"why didn't you tell me?"
guanlin knew that once she calls him back, that would be the first thing she would say. even though he already knew, he still had trouble preparing his answer beforehand and that showed when all hyein could hear from the other line is silence with a company of his breathing
the silence flowed around hyein as she started to become anxious, she waited for his reply as she habitually started to fidget with her fingers
"i.."
when she heard how heavy his voice sounded, curiosity began to swirl in her mind. she started to wonder what was the reason to make it so hard for him to say,
"you.. what?"
hyein's lips pursed into a thin line when a heavy sigh was heard from the other line, out of nowhere - she started to become emotional. she guessed it's because she's disappointed mixed with sad and a little pinch of anger
"i.. didn't want our last meet up.. to end sad.."
and in that moment, she felt she's close to having tears running down her face. hyein hurriedly looks up while blinking her eyes repeatedly to make the tears go away before it could expose her
hearing her shaky breath alarmed the male, he became worried at hearing a long silent response from her. his forehead had a few lines as he bit his bottom lip nervously while trying to think of anything to say,
"look hyein- i'm really sor-"
"you've safely arrived right?"
guanlin felt a familiar dryness appearing in his throat, he slowly gulped down the lump as his head nodded while saying,
"i just arrived at the house.."
"that's great to know, please tell mei lin and the rest of your family that i said hi"
"i will"
another silence was built between them, the two didn't know what else to say but also had no plans to end the call
a sudden realization dawned upon hyein. remembering his reason for not telling her this news just made her think,
'there's no point in making this even sadder'
of course, she's sad but remembering that she spent a whole day with him on his last day in korea made her also happy not to mention, grateful towards guanlin
usually, some people would just disappear the whole day before moving but guanlin wasn't like that
