Kai sat against the wall of the gymnasium, his discarded tie in one hand and a bottle of tequila in the other. None of the teachers had noticed him yet or had chosen at least to turn a blind eye.

"What are we going to do with you?" Jay sighed from next to him.

Kai just hiccuped in response, "I don't know what you're on about. I am-" he raised the bottle "-peachy."

"Yeah, no you're not," Jay grabbed the bottle from his hand, ignoring his groans of protest.

Jay and Kai had spent the last hour obnoxiously tearing up the dance floor, but then Lloyd Garmadon started blaring My Chemical Romance and they had to emergency evacuate before they could get trampled by the scene kids.

Then Kai had spotted Cole getting a little too close for comfort to one of the cheerleaders, hence why he was moodily drinking by the side of the gym while Jay tried to give him second rate therapy.

"Didn't you two agree that in order to keep your relationship a secret, you would need to fake makeout with other people?" Jay said.

"No," Kai glared at the floor, "there's no point anyway. Morro knows, Harumi knows. He's just bringing more attention to himself."

"He's probably just not ready."

"Then when is he ever going to be ready?" Kai dropped his head into his hands. "This can't keep going on forever."

Jay was quiet, fiddling with his shirt sleeve. It was times like this that made him glad that he was single. As if reading his mind, Kai leant back and stared at him.

"Skylor told me that you still like Nya?" he grinned stupidly. "Really?"

Jay rolled his eyes, "not anymore."

It was a total lie, but Kai seemed to buy it, shrugging as he went back to the wall. Jay watched the dance floor, his eyes landing upon Harumi standing on the dancefloor, looking dejected.

He nudged Kai with his foot, "look at Harumi."

Kai snorted as he noticed her, "who is she possibly pining over?"

Jay followed Harumi's gaze to see that she was watching a particular blonde Freshman, "Lloyd Garmadon, apparently."

"I'm sick of that kid," Kai said matter-of-factly, "he's part of the gang that terrorises the city and thinks he can be a part of our team. Two-faced little bitc-" Jay kicked him in the side before he could go blabbing their secrets to the entire Prom.

Kai glared at him, ready to retort back when his jaw dropped open. Jay frowned, turning around to see Cole kissing a girl against the wall. Very passionately.

"Unbelievable," Kai muttered, shaking his head as he stumbled up from the floor, "he is such a - such a manwhore."

Jay reached out to Kai, but he was already gone, stumbling across the dancefloor like some sort of drunken zombie. He bit his lip nervously as he glanced back at Cole, who was too preoccupied with the cheerleader to notice his boyfriend's predicament.

All the relationship drama was going to give Jay a headache. He stuffed his hands in his pockets as he made his way back into the crowds, trying to find Kai through the jumping bodies.

"Oh my god!"

Jay glanced up to the stage to see one of Harumi's cheerleaders at the microphone, pointing at something below the stage with a gleeful expression on her face. Gasps were coming from all around him, and soft mutters of "oh shit"
