CHAPTER 33
DIVERSION
Lyra listened to Blaise and didn't return to the school for another forty-five minutes just to be safe. It seemed that now her friends had gone from approving to actually liking Blaise, they even seemed to tolerate Theo.
When they got back the three girls immediately went to their own common rooms and dorms, not bothering to ask about what had happened until tomorrow.
And it turned out that Lyra preferred it that way because the next morning a notice board stated that Dumbledore had been replaced by Umbridge as Headmistress. Lyra did not want to know the details about how that had gone and instead went on with her classes as normal.
But of course, Umbridge had enforced the Inquisitorial Squad, a group of suck up students, mostly in Slytherin who did nothing but remove house points from the other houses.
("Suck up little shits." Fay mumbled when Parkinson had taken 10 points for Fay's mismatched socks, which she had done on purpose.
Lyra turns to the group, eyes falling on Blaise who had a silver pin on his robes as well. "At least we have someone on our side."
"Well really he's on your side," Zara pointed out, "But yes, it is nice knowing he won't take advantage of his new position.")
And with the Inquisitorial Squad and Umbridge's unlimited power, Lyra could really only think of one way to get through it: pranks. She had set off so many of the Inquisitorial members that pissed her off, Blaise told her to prank him to avoid suspicion but Lyra avoided it at all costs. And if she did prank him it would be something small, like making flowers replace his food which Lyra thought was pretty adorable because it made him blush.
Best of all was when Fred and George told her of their plan and Lyra had jumped at the opportunity to help. She worked out the charms and jinxes that would set their plan in motion.
They ran off their separate ways, Lyra to her friends who already knew of the prank and the twins towards Harry, Ron and Hermione who were out at the Entrance Hall.
"I'm so nervous." Zara said as they waited in anticipation for something to happen.
Relax... It'll be fun. If not a bit messy." Lyra said with a smirk.
"What exactly did you three plan?" Fay asked, her eyes trailing around the room that looked no different.
"You'll see."
And they didn't have to wait long. Because in a few minutes, a loud BANG sounded from the upstairs floor. Loud enough to shake the castle and nearly break the windows. She felt Zara's and Fay's eyes turn to her and just smirked as she drank from her pumpkin juice.
Another BANG sounded, followed by a third and in seconds the Great Hall was filled with colorful fireworks. Animal shaped fireworks began going off as well, large dragons and bats and horses.
Zara and Fay laughed as Umbridge and Filch ran around, trying to stop them. They only increased as Umbridge tired jinxing them. From across the hall she met Blaise's eyes and sent him a wink before running off to avoid Umbridge's rage.
Throughout the rest of the day fireworks were set in every classroom, corridor, and hall. To make matters worse, for Umbridge, no teacher decided to help, instead sending a student to call for the Headmistress.
That night went down as one of the longest parties in Gryffindor tower. And while Lyra knew she would regret it, she drank far too much Firewhiskey with the twins.
