Chapter 39

Kakashi made his way to the bed again. Careful as if on a mission, he tip-toed through the room to the bed where he slid under the covers. He knew she liked to wake up with him by her side, so he had purposely waken up earlier in order to make her breakfast, and thus he could now go back to her and wait until she woke up.

At the feeling of a weight to her side (Y/n), who was still sound asleep, turned her body to him, quickly crawling into a ball at his side to regain the warmth she had lost when Kakashi left the bed an hour or so ago. He carefully and strategically set his arm near her so she'd eventually lay her head on it and therefore came closer to him. And she did, finally resting her head on his broad and bare shoulder.

Kakashi watched her sleeping so tranquil and peacefully. Her lips were partly opened while the breath came out from her nose making a slight sound that was neither bothersome nor like a snore. It actually soothed him because it let him know she was alive and breathing, something he had only stopped worrying about not so long ago.

He inevitably took some hair out of her face, letting his fingers linger over here skin. Then his hand traveled to her shoulder and arm which was hugging Kakashi from his abdomen, also leaving slight caresses through it. And then, as the minutes passed his hand travelled to her back, sneaking under her —that was actually Kakashi's— shirt, and then he let his fingers dance slowly and tenderly over her warm skin. All of that while he nurtured himself with her placid figure, admiring his love.

She started to wake up slowly, which made Kakashi had contradictory feelings. He wished he could stay admiring her because it would also mean she would sleep, something he knew she adored doing. But then he also wanted her to wake up, to hear her lovely voice filling his ears. He wanted her to wake up and kiss him good morning, to hug him and talk to him, even if it was selfish he couldn't help it either way.

She was finally awake and aware, but she refused to get up just yet, so instead she moved her head up his boyfriend's body, burying her head in his neck but only enough so that she could breathe and the sunlight could remind her she needed to get up at some point. So she laid there, her nose tickling slightly Kakashi's neck while most of her body was on top of his, being embraced by him while he kept on doing those caresses on her back that kept her in a trance.

"Good morning baby" he said, laying a soft kiss on her forehead before returning to his position, especially as he felt (Y/n)'s head burying deeper in him, making him chuckle softly. Music to her ears as it made her smile.

Still sleepily, she laid her lips on the warm skin of his neck, her hand tracing similar circles to the ones he was doing on her back, but in his hair near his ear.

"Did you sleep well?" he asked her, even lower due to her caresses.

She nodded in his neck, turning a little so this time she was actually completely facing down. She sneaked her arm under his, hugging him closer while also allowing him easier access to her back, unknowingly also allowing him access to her neck. Kakashi, at the sight of this, couldn't help himself and bit teasingly, causing her to let go an adorable giggle that made him smile as well while his heart melted. She moved her head slightly to him so she could finally take a look at her lovely boyfriend.

They both smiled while they looked at each other's eyes and after a long moment, just staring at each other, Kakashi laid a soft kiss on the tip of her nose, making her giggle yet again.

"Happy birthday love" he said lowly.

She stopped giggling and let go a groan while she buried herself on his chest, this time being him who chuckled while he played with her hair.
