"Are you sure?" I asked Kakashi, a bit hesitant. He nodded and smiled slightly, reassuring.
"I want you to meet them" he answered.
It was somewhat early in the morning. Normally Kakashi would wake up around this hour to visit the memorial, which was the reason why he was always late. That, and that he would also wake up a bit late. But today, while I stretched myself on the bed and delighted myself with Kakashi dressing up, he asked me to go with him.
I nodded at his words and got up too, dressing up as well. On our way there we stopped by Yamanaka flowers.
"(Y/n)! How are you? What are you doing here?" Ino asked me the moment I stepped inside.
"I'm fine, Ino" I smiled at her.
"What can I help you with?" she asked, waiting for me to explain why was I there. Or rather waiting for me to tell her what kind of flowers did I want and for what.
But obviously the flowers weren't for me, nor I was the one to decide that. I turned my head behind me, to Kakashi who was entering the shop. Ino's eyes went from me to Kakashi, her lips parting slightly in a kind of 'o' form that showed me she was thinking about something. Her gaze alternated from me to him several times until she quickly understood it was Kakashi who wanted the flowers.
"So what can I help you with, Kakashi-sensei?" she said, looking at me from the corner of her eyes with a smile that made me slightly uncomfortable.
"Just the regular, Ino" he answered.
Ino's face fell down a bit in disappointment, and she began to prepare a bouquet of purplee hyacinths.
"You bring them flowers every day?" I mouthed my thoughts without realizing, looking at Kakashi as I thought it was a beautiful detail from him.
His fingers entwined with mines as he looked down at me as well, with one of those soft closed-eye smiles of his while nodding. Something about his happy smile as we talked about the flowers to someone's grave made me grasp his hand tighter.
"Here you go Kakashi-sensei" Ino came back with a bright smile again, intensely staring at out laced hands.
"Thank you Ino" he answered, giving her the money for the flowers.
Once we got there I helped Kakashi to take out the flowers from yesterday, and he cleaned the already clean graves. He put the new flowers carefully and then stood there, watching the stones in silence. Meanwhile, I stood there with him, by his side and holding his hand as support. I looked at the names and then at him; at his only visible lost eye. 'He's been doing this every day, all of his life...' I thought to myself, feeling a slight pang in my heart from imagining him doing this over and over again, no matter if it rained, if it snowed, or if the sun was up.
We stood like that for some time and then he sighed. His eye seemed to glisten a bit again, and his hand moved slightly in mine, almost as if he had come back from his own world.
"I wish you had met them" he said "I have a feeling Obito and you would have been really good friends... You would have driven me insane..." he said with a small chuckle.
I grasped his hand tighter and looked at his name on the grave, having a small smile too. I remembered Kakashi's old team picture. They seem to have a relationship similar to the one Naruto and Sasuke have, so I could only imagine. 'I wish I had known them too'
"Well, Obito" I said "Nice to meet you" I bowed lightly with a gentle smile.
Kakashi observed my actions, not expecting them. But the hold of his hand around mine tightened slightly, making me know he was thankful for my words.
