I Run To You: Part Two

I stood up there on the stage as I reached out in the darkness trying to feel for Ren, but I could not feel him but empty space. The light came on and the guessed cheered. The Auctioneer then continued with the evening.

"Okay ladies and gentlemen, we will now carry on with the reveal."

He looked at me and smiled. I looked worried as I looked into the crowd of people. I could not see Ren, just a lot of gentlemen wearing the same mask. Ren could still be out there amongst them. I could not see Ace or York either... Where are they? I spotted Kyo and he smiled. Thank you, Kyo for staying with me.

"Okay, Miss. Your mystery lover is... Mr York Moss."

The guests roared with chatter then cheered. I blushed as I watched them all. I then realized it was York all along... But where is he? Oh no! Did Ren do something? But where is Ace?

"I have been informed that Mr Moss is attending to a personal matter so we will now start the bidding on this beautiful fine lady... We will start the bidding at $1 thousand... Any bids?"

No! If York is not here... How will he win the bid? What about Ace? Does he not want to bid? I looked at Kyo and he raised his hand. I looked at Kyo and Mouthed.

"Thank you."

He smiled at me and winked.

"Do we have $2 thousand?"

I noticed another nobleman raised his hand, then another as the bidding went on. I did not know the gentlemen as I watched them all raise there hand as they made their bids... Come on York where are you?

"Do we have $50 thousand?... You are one wanted lady."

I heard the Auctioneer chuckle. I looked over at the Auctioneer and he smiled as he carried on. I was getting carried away with scanning the guests and really not paying attention of how much the bid was at... How did the bid get up so high so fast?

I feel faint. The numbers were still being called out. I looked down at my hands as the room started to feel differently as the lights were fading.

"Okay! We have $1 million, do we have $2 million?... Anymore bids gentlemen?... No? Here we have it... $1 million dollars. Please come up and claim your lady, sir."

Did I just hear that right?... One million dollars? My legs gave way and I fell into someone's arms as he caught me before the darkness fell upon me.

I could hear voices talking softly. I tried to hear what they were saying.

"Did you see him?"

"No, but I think Harper did when the light went out, I heard her call out his name."

"That would explain the bids being pushed higher. He was trying to win her."

"I tried to win her, but it kept going higher so fast."

"Do not worry, at least she is safe for now."

Are they talking about Ren? Who won the bid? I knew Kyo tried to win me and I thank him for trying. It looks like they did not win me.

I slowly opened my eyes and saw York, Kyo and Ace sitting on the sofa of a private room I have been in before. I started to sit up and they noticed me move and rushed over to the bed.

"Harper, just sit up slowly please."

York held my hand as Ace and Kyo helped me to sit up.

"What happened?"

York smiled as he explained.

"You fainted, sweetheart after you heard the amount the bid ended on."
