Tris's POV
My alarm goes off, snapping me out of my peaceful sleep. I groggily reach over, cut the alarm off, and pick up my phone. When I see that it's 6:30, I'm automatically confused as to why I set an alarm this early.
Then I finally realize that it's Monday, and I have my interview at 9:30. Today is the official beginning of my break. I will get to take the next few months off to spend with my kid and be as normal as I possibly can be. It won't be that normal because I'm still famous, and people will recognize me wherever I go. But still. It'll be nice to not constantly be on the move or in recording studios or meetings or arenas.
This gives me and my kid a chance to breath and let him grow up. This also gives him time to get used to having his dad around.
It's been a few days since we broke the news to Toby, and the two of them have been attached to the hip ever since. If Tobias didn't come over to our place first thing in the morning, then Toby was having me bring him up to his place. They've spent almost every waking minute together, but I'm not complaining one bit.
Seeing how happy Toby is with his dad in his life is such a great feeling for me. And it just warms my heart that the two of them connect so well even though they've only known each other for two months.
And it's also nice seeing Tobias smiling so much again.
Ever since we both moved back, Tobias kept mostly to himself. And when he would hang with everyone, he hardly ever talked. It's like he was lost in his own little world.
And now he's smiling and laughing and talking. Every since we told Toby, it's like he came alive.
Those two boys make me incredibly happy. Even if we are a pretty messed up family right now.
I pull myself out of my thoughts and up off of my bed before I fall back asleep. I have three hours to get myself and my kid ready, to fix us both some breakfast, and then get us to the place where my interview is being filmed. So now is definitely not the time for me to be daydreaming. Or actual dreaming for that matter.
I walk into the bathroom, take a quick shower, and dry my hair once I hop out. I head over to my closet and take some time to pick out an outfit. I end up deciding on some black jeans and a navy blue t-shirt with white trim. I throw it on, tuck my shirt into my jeans, put my hair up in a high ponytail, and apply a small amount of makeup. Basically just mascara and lip gloss.
I head back into my room and dive into my accessories. I end up putting on a white belt, my heart locket with Toby's picture in it, and a few thin bracelets. I slip on my white booties before walking into Toby's room.
I gently shake him awake, and after a minute or two, he finally wakes up.
"Come on, sweetie. You have to get ready. We have to go to Mommy's interview today," I say, and he yawns.
"Okay, Mommy."
I send him off to the bathroom while I grab some khaki shorts and a green t-shirt for him. I help him take a bath and change him into his outfit once he's done. Then I take him into the kitchen, and since it took a little longer than usual for us both to get ready, I decide that we're having cereal for breakfast.
"What kind of cereal do you want, Toby?" I ask, and he takes a minute to think about it.
"Can I have Lucky Charms?"
"Of course."
I grab the box of Lucky Charms for him and the Honey Nut Cheerios for me. I pour us each a bowl of cereal followed by the milk. I grab us both a water, and then we sit down to eat our cereal. Since I get done before him, I go to his room to start packing up his things while he's finishing. I'm almost done when I hear him call out.
