Tris's POV
I wake up to the familiar sound of crying. I instantly get up out of my bed. I quickly make my way to the room closest to mine and find my three year old son sitting on his bed, crying. I walk over to him, pick him up, and start rocking him.
"Shh. It's ok, Toby. Mommy's here. It's ok," I whisper to him. He wraps his tiny little arms around my neck, and I hug him close. He eventually stops crying and looks at me.
"Was it another nightmare?" I ask, and he nods his head.
"It was scary, Mommy," he says.
"I know, buddy," I say as I sit down on his bed with him on my lap. "They can be really scary sometimes, but do you know what I do when I get scared?" He shakes his head no.
"What do you do, Mommy?" he asks.
"I think of all of the good things in my life. The things I love. The things I have. The things that I don't have. And I thank God for it. Do you want to try it?" I ask, and he nods his head. "Ok. What do you love?"
"I love books. And I love music. And I love you, Mommy," he says, and I smile at him.
"I love you too, Toby," I reply.
"What do you love?" he asks.
"Well. Of course I love you. I love my music. I love all of my friends. I love Matthew and my crew for making my career possible. And I love your Daddy," I explain.
"Where is my daddy?"
"Your daddy lives away from where we live. But not to be away from you. Difficult things were happening, so we had to go different ways. I know he would be here right now if he could," I tell him.
"Well, how do you love him when he's so far away? And does he love me since he's never seen me?" he asks.
"Love can go a long way, buddy. It can travel great distances, and I can't forget about him. You remind me of him everyday. Your eyes, your nose, your love. And I can assure you that he loves you. I know he does."
"Ok, Mommy. I believe you," he says.
"Good. Now. What do you want for breakfast?" I ask as we walk into the kitchen.
We're currently staying in a rented penthouse because I'm on tour. Matthew, my manager, and a few members of my crew are staying here too. I set Toby in his booster seat and sit down beside him.
"Mommy," Toby says. "Can I have some pancakes?"
"Of course. Waverly!" I call, and she walks in from the laundry room.
"Yes, miss. What do you need?" she asks.
"Can you fix some pancakes for Toby and some oatmeal and blueberries for me?"
"Yes. Of course, miss," she replies and gets to work.
"And Waverly." She turns around and looks at me. "Why were you in the laundry room?"
"I was doing your laundry," she says, quietly, but I still hear her.
"And what did I tell you about doing my laundry?" I say.
"To not to," she says, and I nod my head.
"That's right. Just because I'm famous doesn't mean I can't do things for myself," I say.
"Of course, miss. You can do anything," she tells me and starts cooking.
I quickly go into the laundry room and finish doing mine and Toby's half done laundry. Then I go back into the kitchen and sit back down in my chair. I take out my phone and go on to Twitter. I see so many people that have said something about going to my final concert tonight. I smile at all of them. I love my fans.
