the little bells hanging at the entrance made a delicate sound as hoseok entered mingi's cafe. he looked around and smiled seeing mingi who was preparing a drink for one of the customers.
mingi wiped his hands with a white paper towel and brought the freshly-made drink to a young lady sitting near the window.
"enjoy your latte."
hoseok heard mingi say and walk back to the bar table.
hoseok looked at the clock and bit his lip nervously. it was almost 7 pm, which was the time mingi's shift ended today. he usually worked until 10 pm, but not today.
"hi."
mingi turned around only to be met by hoseok who was standing near the bar table with a wide smile across his lips. he was wearing a simple outfit: light blue jeans and an oversized yellow tshirt topped off with a pair of sunglasses that were hanging on the rim of his tshirt.
"good evening." mingi replied and gave hoseok a little smile. "I'll be done in a few."
hoseok nodded and went over to take a seat on one of the tables.
after ten minutes, mingi took off his apron and hung it up near the bar table, in a corner. he then went inside the staff room and came out after changing his clothing.
if hoseok were to compare mingi and himself, he'd say they were like the sun and the moon. mingi always wore dark clothing, even now he had black ripped jeans and a black oversized tshirt. the only thing that was not black was his platinum blonde hair. it made mingi stand out a lot; he looked ethereal, in a way.
"so-o... where are we going?" mingi asked hoseok as soon as they exited the cafe.
"um, well, I actually don't know, I thought of asking you. where do you want to go?" hoseok responded with a little chuckle.
"in that case, I'll show you my... hideout, if you can call it that." mingi laughed. "it's basically a place I visit when I feel down or just need time away from everybody else."
mingi didn't know why he trusted hoseok this much, but it felt like his subconsciousness was guiding him now. hoseok and mingi had a weird relationship... they were very close when mingi just opened his cafe. hoseok visited it every day. they had sweet conversations about different things and often stayed in the cafe after closing hours, chatting and drinking coffee. but after hoseok got promoted from an inspector to a detective, he started having more work and day by day got further and further away from mingi.
mingi never liked anything that had to do with the police and even though hoseok liked mingi a lot, he was not going to give up his job only to be with him.
hoseok decided that their relationship had to change for the better. he couldn't hide his feelings for the boy anyway.
"its here." mingi said and turned to some small alley behind a building.
hoseok followed and they ended up in a little area with an old bench that had plants all around it. trees created a nice shade in the day time and made it cozy for the evenings.
"woah... this place is fascinating!" hoseok exclaimed and went over to the bench with mingi.
while hoseok admired the place, mingi admired hoseok. he let out a little giggle; hoseok looked so childish, as if he has never seen trees in his life.
"oh, by the way, have you found your earring yet...?" hoseok asked, looking straight into mingi's eyes.
"oh um, no... I mean, I don't have any hope anymore, I could've lost it anywhere on the streets." mingi replied looking down at the ground.
"why do you ask?"
"I was just curious..." hoseok said and bit his lip nervously.
not a minute later, it started raining out of nowhere. the boys got startled and mingi grabbed hoseok's hand, leading him to a place under a big tree. it's leaves and the tree itself was huge, so they created a type of 'roof'.
"this is crazy, I swear the forecast said today was supposed to be a sunny day." hoseok exhaled.
"never trust anyone... or anything for that matter." mingi said, leaning against the tree.
"but rain is beautiful."
"it sure is..." hoseok remarked in a quiet voice.
they listened to the rain for a while. hoseok suddenly turned around only to be met by mingi's face that was centimeters away from his. how did they get so close?
hoseok saw a certain type of warmth in mingi's eyes, but at the same time he sensed a different feeling... fear? or danger?
he didn't know, he couldn't think. mingi seemed to have had some type of effect on hoseok, it's like mingi was a siren luring hoseok into his trap.
mingi saw that hoseok went into his thoughts and took the first step, closing the gap between their lips. hoseok melted under mingi's touch and felt euphoric after closing his eyes and giving in.
hoseok gently pushed mingi, trapping him between the tree and himself. his slender hands traveled from mingi's shoulders to his waist and the elder wrapped his hands around hoseok's neck.
the kiss became more and more rough. mingi furrowed his eyebrows, feeling hoseok's grasp around his waist tighten to the point where mingi started to feel pain.
"ah! hoseok!" mingi screamed out, grabbing onto hoseok's hands.
"w-what are you doing?"
"I'm sorry..." hoseok apologized and lowered his head.
"it's fine." mingi pulled hoseok closer, leaving no space between their bodies.
he leaned in for another kiss, making it much softer and more passionate than the first one.
I think... hoseok thought to himself.
I think I might be in love with a serial killer.
