Rebecca's POV
Colby and I entered the restaurant that was very close to the pier-one of my favorite places. The evening was very pleasant. The sun was just setting and coloring the sky in different shades. Rough waves crashed into the rocks. The wind gently caressed my face and straightened my hair. I feel calm. This is not just a place. I really like Colby's company. It makes me sometimes forget the secrets I'm hiding. He is my port amid the tumultuous waves of life. As if whenever I need to, I can go to him and take a break from the battles I'm fighting. I don't know how he made me believe him in such a short time. It's like I haven't known him for less than a month. It's like we've met before. But if it was the case, I would remember. I followed him to the table he had reserved on the second floor of the balcony. The view is stunning. In addition, the restaurant itself is decorated in style. Nothing pretentious or glamorous. He pulled on my chair and invited me to sit down.
"Such a gentlemen."I smiled politely. He was sitting across from me.
"Do you like it here?" he asked me nervously.
" It's wonderful here. Do you come here often?"
"You could say so. Especially now, when I'm not at work, I have enough free time."
Our conversation was interrupted by the waiter who brought the menu.
"What will you drink?"Colby asked me "
"I'm thinking of Guinness-the dark" And you?"
"I like it, too. Then we'll order two."
"Can you recommend a dish for me?"
"Baked lemon tilapia- it's great."
"And you?"
"Fried catfish. Do you want anything else?"
"That's enough „"
***
Ever since we are here, Colby has been looking very tense, but I don't understand why.
"Is everything all right?"
"Yes, Yes, I just thought..."
"Mercedes?"
„No." He shook his head. "Why did you think so?"
"Actually, a few days ago, she was in my office. " He looked at me in confusion. "She was interrogating me about the day Sammy tried to kill me."
"What did you tell her?"
"The truth. You had no choice. I think she knows it, too. It will all come out soon, and you will be back to work." I put my hand on his, rubbing it with my thumb.
"I hope the same." He squeezed my hand.
The waiter came with our cups.
"Let's change the subject „ We're not here to talk about my ex."
"I agree."I raised my glass " "What shall we drink to?"
"For tonight. I hope we will have many evenings like this one." I felt myself blush.
"For tonight." Two of us drank and left our glasses.
"Tell me something about yourself?"
"As if you haven't read my file." I was joking.
"You're right! Then you'll be asking questions today."
"Sounds fair. Colby, do you have any brothers or sisters?"
"I have a younger sister. I live with her. Well not exactly..." I looked at him questioningly.
"What do you mean?"
