*Knock, knock, knock*
Colby waked up. Out of habit, he expected his sister to open up, but then he remembered their argument the night before. He sighed and got up from the sofa, where he had been asleep.
*Knock, knock, knock*
„I'm coming." He shouted. When he opened the door, he was pleasantly surprised. "Joe, what are you doing here?""
"And good morning to you, Sleepyhead. Can I come in?" Colby stepped away from the entrance and gestured to him to step inside.
"Here, but don't let the Mercedez, the witch to see you. " He laughed a little.
"Relax, I'm not here on business." Two men entered the living room. Colby quickly folded his blanket and the visitor sat down.
"Can I offer you coffee?"
"Fuck the coffee, sit down and let's talk." Colby looked at him questioningly and settled comfortably on the couch. "Lacey is in my house. Don't worry, she's safe."
"Thank you, brother. I'm glad she is with you. I owe you a favour."
"She is my sister, and you know it, but what happened between you. I've never seen you fight."
"I don't want to talk about it now."
"And for what do you want to talk about?" Colby looked at him vaguely.
"I don't understand you?"
"You can deceive everyone, but not me...who is she?" Colby's eyes widen.
"How?.. how do you know?"
"First of all, the table is full of empty cans of beer. Second, you forgot to turn off the romantic movie you fell asleep last night. Should I continue?" Joe laughed.
"Am I really an open book for you?"
"That's right, now spit it who's lucky one."
"I don't know... I don't know if I have feelings for her, but I like to spend time with her, the whole world disappears, and there is only the two of us. Yes, I know we spent only a day together, but she's different."
"You really are very much in love. Who is she?"
"Rebecca Quin, widow of Luke Sanders."
"Dude, are you kidding?" Joe asked incredulously.
„No." he replied calmly.
"You have amazing criteria for women. First, Mercedez, the district attorney's daughter. Now Rebecca, the Black widow."
"The Black widow?"
"Natty calls her that, she POPs up at every crime scene."
"I don't know what to do, I'm very confused." Joe took a deep breath and began.
"If you ask your question to agent Anoa'i, then I would tell you that it is unprofessional and unethical." Seriously said Joe.
"What if I ask my brother Joe? What will he say to me?"
"If this woman attracts you, go out with her, get to know her. I don't want you to tell her you love her. Spend time with her and see what will happen." He tapped Colby on shoulder.
"Thank you, brother, I knew I could count on you." Something inside Colby ached. Why didn't he tell the whole story if he trusted his friend? But he couldn't face the past again, not now.
"I'll leave you. Think about what we talked about. We can always change the case we're working on. But it's not every day that you meet a woman who charms Colby Lopez."
