Becky's POV

"Come in." I moved away from the door and invited him inside with a gesture. I closed the door and went into the living room. He followed me with slow steps.

"Make yourself comfortable, I'll get you some water and be back soon." He nodded and sat down on the sofa. I filled one glass with water and went back to him without wasting any time. I handed him the glass, and he drank it at once. I sat next to him, he didn't say a word, he just held his empty glass and looked at it.

"Do you want more water?"

"No, thank you." He left his glass on the lower table and looked at me. He smiled sadly, and there was an infinite sadness in his eyes. My heart ached for him, he didn't deserve to go through all of this.

"Colby, talk to me, it will make you feel better." I put my hand on his hip.

"Mercedez.... she ... she is dead."He said and burst into tears. I hugged him tightly, his head resting on my shoulder.

"I'm so sorry, Colby." I slowly rubbed his back.

"I feel empty Rebecca, she was special to me. I made a lot of mistakes while we were together, but I really loved her. I never wanted to hurt her, but I did. I put my work in front of her, I ignored her ... and then the differences between us became too big. But yesterday there was the old Mercedez, the one I fell in love with so many years ago, she was loving and caring, my Mercy. And now she's gone ... I'll never see her smile again, she will never yell at me again ... I didn't realize how much she meant to me before I lost her forever. "

"She will always be there for you, even if you don't see her. She will always remain in your heart, live in your memories... she may be a sunbeam or a drop of rain..."

"It's like the past is repeating itself again. After my father's death, I became an agent to find his killer, to protect my family and the ones I love... but as you can see, I failed in both."

"That's not true. Think of all the lives you saved by arresting murderers and sending them to prison."

"What does it matter when the people I love suffer and die?"

"You can't catch every criminal, Colby. But that doesn't mean you're a bad person."

"I ran away from Yowa to start a new life, far away from my demons, but they found me again..."

'You have no idea how right you are.' I thought.

"... I've fought in my entire life, but no matter how hard I tried, it didn't matter. I've lost a dear person again."

"Everything will be alright, we will go through this togeher. I will always be by your side."

"Thank you for your support. Thank you for being a part of my life. Meeting you was one of the most wonderful things that ever happened to me." I felt my heart beating crazy and the butterflies in my stomach.

"How did you overcome Luke's death?" he pulled away from me and looked into my eyes.

"Honestly?" he nodded. "I did the same as you, I thought it was my fault, I worked until I was exhausted because I couldn't sleep. I forgot about myself ... and then reality slapped me hard. I was arrested and almost died. Then I realized that life was too short. Luke wouldn't want me to be unhappy. He would like me to move on and fulfill our dreams. I will live for him." I already had tears in my eyes, but now I had to be strong because of Colby.

He hugged me again, and at that moment, time seemed to stop and our problems didn't exist. After a while, I felt his head grow heavy on my shoulder. "Colby, don't fall asleep, I will prepair a room for you." As much as I wanted to sleep in his arms, I couldn't let that happen. If we're sleeping in the same room, he will more than likely see the bandage on my arm and start asking questions.
