Becky's POV
"I won't leave you again. I'm here, and I'll help you in any way I can. If you want, I'll even show you the evidence in the case ... I'll do whatever you say."
"Colby, I..."
"Please let me be here for you and help you." He reached across the table and grabbed my hand. When he touched me, I shivered. I missed his presence, his caress, his scent, everything he is. I couldn't forget him, because he was never far away from me. He is inside me, in my heart and soul. That's why it hurt so much when he left me without even looking back. I wanted him to be a part of my life, and now that scares me the most. I shared my biggest secret with him, and he didn't live up to my trust. For relationships, trust is almost as important as love. I can't live with the doubt whether he will leave again or being here for me no matter what. I can't do this to myself. So I tend to keep him away from me. That way I can be sure that he won't hurt me again. I pulled away abruptly and stood up.
"I have an important meeting and I don't want to be late."
"Please think about my words. I know I don't have the right, but I need a second chance. Let's try again, Becca." My heart melts at his words.
"I'll call you, but I have to go now." I insisted.
"Thank You." He tried to approach me, but I raised my hands and stopped him.
"Do not. Let's go."
...
I walked nervously into the bank's office. I looked in one of the mirrors to make sure I looked good. The Agency hasn't been going very well lately, so I took out a few loans. I was supposed to make another contribution today, but I couldn't raise the money. This business is all I fought for. If I can't arrange a deferred payment, I don't know what I'll do. I went to the manager's secretary's desk. She was a middle-aged woman with blonde hair.
"Hi."
"Good afternoon, how can I help you?" She replied politely and smiled.
"I'd like to meet Mr. Bennet."
"Wait a minute." She got up from her Desk and walked into his office. I waited a while before she came back. "Mr. Bennet will see you." the blonde said, and opened the door for me. I went into the office and went to his desk.
"Thank you so much for accepting me, Mr. Bennet."
"Miss Quin, it's always a pleasure to see you." He held out his hand and we shook hands "Please have a seat." He pointed to the chair opposite him.
"I came to ask you for a little respite."
"Miss Quin, this is the third time you've asked for a respite for 5 months."
"But I always pay them. Before that, I strictly fulfilled our contract."
"I understand, Miss Quin, and I really want to help, but your debentures were bought out by another person this morning."
"What do you mean?"I asked confused.
"You are no longer our debtor. The gentlemen will contact you shortly and deal with it."
"How did you do it without asking me?"I screamed. "This is my company! You can't sell my debentures to anyone else!"
"Miss, I advise you to calm down, or I'll call security."
"Don't tell me to calm down! This is all I've worked for my whole life."
"I understand, but the gentlemen didn't just pay your debts. He paid double the price. It's a business, and this deal was definitely a good one."
