Part 5- Friday

Scott's POV

10 days later

Me and clay pretty much laugh and joke all day when we walk from class to class together, we have began to hangout more frequently then we have before, we've gotten closer as well, we text each other during the weekend a lot. It's been about a week and a half since I've started being clays "bodyguard", Monty never tried to hurt clay at all so far which is good. I've been hanging out with clay since last Monday and nothing much has happened but a few stares from the jocks and that's all. Out of these 10 days we've gotten to know each other better, I noticed clays a really good guy to talk to, he's understanding, kind, loyal, funny, and at some points i can say he can be adorable. 

Today was Friday, the sun was high up in the sky giving us 25 degree weather. For the first time, clay invited me to hangout with him, Tony, and Justin at lunch today. Ive talked to Justin many time before since we play football together, but with Tony, I rarely talk to him since we both have our different friend groups, or well had i meant. 

The lunch bell just rang now, I grabbed my bag, sat up from my seat, and began making my way to Clays locker and wait for him there. As I made my way there I spotted Monty shoving our schools photographer, Tyler down, against the lockers probably threatening him with something. Monty has been messing with that kid for a few years now and still hasn't decided to back down and fuck off, poor Tyler. Without hesitation, I walked over into Monty and Tyler's direction, I didn't know if I was making a mistake or anything at all, but it I think I should help him. I grabbed Monty's shoulder tightly, tight enough that I could pull him off of Tyler, which is exactly what I did. I forcefully yanked Monty away from Tyler, causing him to stumble back and let him go. It may have caught the attention of a few people but I didn't care.

"Fuck off Monty" I spoke in a low voice 

For three seconds, he just stood there and stared at me with this shocked face, which soon turned into a frown as he walked away, probably to go find Bryce. I'm pretty surprised he didn't go to punch me or anything, that was something I really expected to happen. I turned back around to find a shocked Tyler down standing behind me.

"U-um thank you" he stuttered slightly 

I nodded at him and gave him a small smile to indicate that it was no problem, i then continued to walk to clays locker.

Once I arrived, Clay was already there waiting for me on his phone, I smiled as I walked up to  him and placed my hand on his shoulder "Hey clay".

"Oh hey Scott! Sorry I was just on my phone" he says as he quickly puts his phone into his backpack.

"Nah don't worry about it, I'm the one who came late" I then explained to him about what  happened just a couple minutes before I met him at his locker, he seemed pretty surprised that I stood up for Tyler but i don't blame him, I used to be a complete asshole trying to fit in with the jocks, but now that I'm fed up with their bullshit, I can be myself. 

"Wow, your really turning into a bit of a different person then you used to be you know? Not saying you were bad or anything, but you've been becoming nicer by the day" 

I could tell he is trying to be careful with what he was saying towards me, but really, I won't get offended if he tells me i used to be an asshole. 

"Maybe" I smiled 

We continued walking through the hallways until we reached the main entrance, we opened the doors as a warm gust of wind blew into the school as we walked out. I followed Clay as he was leading me around the school, we turned a corner which revealed the side of the school, but also revealed Justin and Tony leaning against the wall having a conversation.
