Allison's POV

My name is Allison Mazur. Until June 9th, 2003, I had a pretty normal life. I lived with my family in Manhattan, I had a couple of friends, and I did well in school. I was always looking for adventure in my basic life, whether it was rock climbing, playing in my backyard, or pretending I was exploring the rainforests of Central America. My life before June 10th may have seemed boring to you, but I enjoyed it. If I kept up my grades, I could go to a good college and have a good life. I never really thought about my future too in-depth, but I sure didn't think it would end up the way it did.

It started on June 9th. The weirdness, I mean. I kept bumping into this girl, Cherry. June 9th, the first day of the last week of school, was the first day it had happened. It was weird. It was like there was some magical force making us cross paths, but it was probably just my imagination. Cherry and I went to the same elementary school, John Adams Elementary School, and we were in the same 4th-grade class this year. Even though we went to the same elementary school since kindergarten, I didn't really know her. We hung out with different groups.

It was getting close to summer vacation. I was really excited, as summer was my favorite season. I looked at the clock on the wall: 2:54. I only had 6 minutes left before I could leave, but I was never a patient person. I started tapping my fingers on the table, and then went back to daydreaming about summer. Ah, summer. There would be no homework to do, no tests to stress about, and no annoying kids to put up with. I was so ready to relax. In the middle of my daydream, the bell rang. I said bye to my friends, ran out of class, and once again I bumped into Cherry.

"Sorry," I said, and ran off to go meet my dad in his car.
