Allison's POV 17

I woke up to the sound of bedsheets moving, and I realized that it must be time to wake up. I sat up and opened my eyes, and saw Connor staring at me from his bunk.

"Connor," I said, yawning and rubbing my eyes, "what are you doing?"

"Uhhh, nothing," he said with a reddish tinge to his cheeks. No more than a second later, his regular smirk was plastered on his face. I would have asked him more about the staring, but 1. I just woke up, and 2. I had had a weird dream. I had dreamt I was holding some small object. I couldn't see what it was before all this black wind came rushing out of it. In horror, the item fell out of my hands and I woke up. Connor had told me that demigods have all kinds of weird dreams, so I didn't think about mine too much. If everyone had weird dreams, surely mine couldn't be that important.

I grabbed some clothes from my backpack from home and went to the bathrooms to change. You see, none of the cabins had their own private bathroom, so everyone had to use the bathrooms in the middle of the camp. I changed, then went back to Cabin 11. I said good morning to Cherry, who had just woken up, and then climbed up to my bunk and saw that it was only 7:18. I had about 45 minutes to kill until breakfast, and I wasn't sure what to do. I planned to just lay on my bed and do nothing, but Connor interrupted my plan.

"Hey," he said, "have you been to the camp store?"

"No, I haven't," I replied. "What do they have there?"

"Pretty much everything: shirts, sweaters, sunscreen, and a bunch of other camp necessities. Do you wanna go now? You're gonna need to buy a shirt for training later," Connor said.

"Sure," I responded, "it's not like I have anything better to do. Let me just grab my wallet." And with that, we were off to the camp store.

When we got there, I saw a sign that said closed, and no one was inside.

"Uh, Connor, should we come back another time? It says the store is closed," I said.

"It's fine, I know a way in," he responded. I was confused about how we were going to get in if the door was locked and we didn't have a key, but maybe Connor knew some secret way in through the back or something. I leaned against the outside of the camp store while Connor pulled something out of his pocket, a paper clip. I should've guessed that he would pick the lock. About a minute later, I heard a click, and Connor opened the door with a smile on his face.

"After you," he said, and held the door open for me.

"Thanks," I said. I said "thanks" or "thank you" after pretty much everything, it was a habit of mine.

I walked into the camp store, and a bunch of things caught my eye. One wall was designated for clothes, all with the Camp Half-Blood logo. I saw a shelf of prisms, with the light starting to shine through them, creating a rainbow. There was also a pair of shoes with wings on the sides, next to a sign that said "If you're interested, talk to someone in Cabin 11 to discuss a price".

"See anything you like?" Connor asked me.

"Yeah," I said, looking around the store, "I'm gonna browse for a bit."

"Okay, I'll be over here," Connor said, standing by the cash register. I wondered what he would be doing by the cashier, but I didn't think about it too much. I went to go look at the clothes that were lining the wall. Everything had the camp logo on it: a pegasus with words above and below it in ancient Greek style writing. I picked out a few of the training shirts, a black jacket with the logo in white, and a white jacket with the logo in black. I decided that I'd come back to the camp store when I knew what other items I needed to buy.
