Cherry's POV 24

As I left camp, it hit me. I first came to this little haven for shelter and learning. For understanding and more peace. But now I was so much more. I had friends. I had people I could count on. And I apparently had a family. I was out to get some answers. To understand myself and the world around me more. I knew there was more to come. But I was finally doing something big. Something worthwhile. I was going out and making my mark on the world. This was what my life has been slowly dragging on to achieve.

I don't know if I will survive this. I might as well be walking into a death trap. Or I could be finding the secret to it all. But I knew this was the end of a chapter of my life. And the start of a new one. Allison and I walked out of the camp border.

Oh, and Malcolm dragged behind too.

I thought back to how it all started. Just two, not-so-average girls, bumping into each other a few too many times. And we will keep doing so. Friends, allies, comrades, whatever you wanted to call it, but we were going into the next chapter together, no matter how cheesy this sounded. Friendship was truly a beautiful force that cannot be underestimated or reckoned with. Monsters better watch out.

"This is not a goodbye," I whispered to myself. It wasn't. This was a see you later, alligator. An: after a while, crocodile.

Because dreams of demigods never lay rest.
