Cherry's POV

"Ouch," I stated, less out of pain and more out of surprise. I glanced back and saw Allison Mazur. This must be the 100th time I've bumped into her. She was always right around the corner.

Anyways, I fast-walked to "the tree of life." This was the one place I could go to relax and work. When you first looked at it, it was just a big tree in the middle of a small field, but if you looked closer, you could see how it was the pretty source of so much love in a fun way. It was hollowed out to house birds and creatures of every kind. In its branches ran a family of squirrels. On the lower branches of the tree, there was a chameleon you could only see if you looked carefully. And its shadows gave comfort for many organisms, including me. I called it the tree of life because it just represents life. I settled down in the hollowed-out roots behind the tree and took out my backpack. As I started to read, I hummed to the tune of the birds and the shuffling of leaves above me.

I was a pretty average girl. I had a roof over my head, food on my plate, an education, friends, and high school life. But sometimes, when I came to the tree of life to heal, I felt like there was more to life.

After I got my fill of nature, I started to walk to my foster home. I felt like I had a bigger purpose out there, waiting for me. I knew I did. Maybe it would happen this summer. Maybe it was right around the corner.
