Allison's POV 11

I turned at the sound of my name.

"Oh, hey Cherry," I said with a smile, "welcome to Cabin 11!"

Cherry looked at me, confused.

"Uh, what are you doing?" she asked.

"Talking with Connor," I stated. I was sitting on my bed. I had picked the top bunk next to Connor's because he was my closest friend at camp so far and because it was one of the only two beds left. We were talking about sports. I told him that I played tennis, and I learned that he played baseball. We were talking about baseball teams, and we agreed that the Yankees were by far the best. I didn't know why Cherry was looking at me so strangely, I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary.

"Can someone explain to me why I'm here?" asked Cherry.

"I can," said Luke. Luke was the head counselor for the Hermes cabin. Luke was tall, with sand-colored hair and blue eyes. He told Cherry the same things he had told me about 10 minutes ago. Luke told Cherry about Cabin 11, and what our schedule was for the rest of the day. The most important thing that Luke said was to always keep a hand on your wallet because children of Hermes were known for stealing things, especially money.

Once Luke had explained everything to Cherry, he told her to pick a bed, and Cherry chose the bunk right below mine, the last available one. Unfortunately for Cherry, that was the bed next to Travis Stoll's, Connor's older brother. Travis looked almost exactly like Connor, except he was a little taller than Connor. Even though their appearances were almost identical, I would have an easy time distinguishing between the two based on their personalities.

The first time I walked into the Hermes cabin, Travis quickly introduced himself, gave me a mini-tour of the cabin, and then tried to prank me five minutes later. Just because I was only ten years old didn't mean I was going to fall for "pull my finger". Connor, on the other hand, was really nice to me, and he hadn't tried to prank me. At least, not yet.

I looked over and saw Cherry tuck in our note from earlier into her bag. As Cherry settled into her bunk, Connor told me some more things about camp, like how there was a campfire every night, and how campers got a bead on their necklace at the end of each summer. Connor and Travis each had one bead on their necklaces. I asked Connor where I would get my necklace, and he said I could get it later at arts and crafts. As Connor was telling me about arts and crafts, I realized that I had run away from school, and my parents didn't know, and it was currently 2:33. When the bell would ring at 3 and I wasn't there, they would be worried.

"You can paint, sculpt, weave, and-"

"Connor," I interrupted, "is there a phone I can use to call my parents?"

"We're not supposed to have phones at camp," Connor replied, "they attract monsters. Why do you want to leave camp, bored with me already?"

I laughed. I had a feeling that Connor and I were going to be good friends, we had a lot in common.

"No, not everything's about you," I said jokingly, "I want to let my parents know that I'm here at camp. And I need to stop by my house to grab some clothes, I can't wear the same thing every day. Oh, and I'm going to need some money. I saw a few things I want to buy at the camp store, I don't think my five dollars will be enough."

"Where are those five dollars?" Connor asked me with an innocent look on his face, but I knew better. The five dollars were in my backpack, which I had locked in my trunk. At camp, no one could go through another camper's trunk, unless it was life or death, or the owner specifically told you to. However, the rules in Cabin 11 were different. If a trunk was locked, it was off-limits to everyone but the owner, but if a camper left their trunk open or forgot to lock it, there weren't any rules against going through it.

"I don't know," I said with a sly smile on my face. There was no way I was going to tell Connor where my money was. He made a pouty face, but I didn't give in.

"But seriously, is there any way I can contact my parents?" I asked.

"You could ask Chiron," Connor said, "do you want me to take you to the Big House?"

"I think I can walk a few hundred feet by myself," I said, laughing.

"Too bad, I'm coming with you," he said and smiled while I rolled my eyes. We climbed down the ladders to get to the floor and I went to put on my shoes, but Connor stopped me.

"Do you have any barbecue chips at your house?" he asked.

"Probably," I said, "do you want me to bring you a bag?"

"Yes, please. It's been so long since I've had food from the real world," he said wistfully. We put on our shoes and walked towards the door, but I was interrupted once again.

"Wait," said Cherry. Had she been listening to our conversation? "I'm coming with you guys, I want to grab some stuff from home too."

"Okay," I said, and the three of us walked out of Cabin 11, and to the Big House.
