Allison's POV 9

I turned to face Connor.

"Hi," he said, "I'm Connor Stoll, one of the campers here." He stuck out his hand for a handshake.

"I'm Allison, Allison Mazur," I said, and shook his hand.

"Anyone ever call you Allie?" he asked.

"No," I said, "everyone calls me Allison."

"Well then I'll be the first," Connor said with a smirk on his face, "come on."

I rolled my eyes at him but followed. Connor showed me the Big House, the volleyball court, the arts and crafts center, the canoe lake, the amphitheater, and the climbing wall.

I saw some campers on the climbing wall, trying to get to the top while avoiding something that looked like lava. Wait, lava?

"Isn't that dangerous?" I asked Connor while pointing to the climbing wall.

"Not if you know what you're doing," he replied.

Connor went on with the tour, showing me the dining pavilion then and the cabins, which I assumed was where everyone slept.

"Why do the cabins all look so different?" I asked him.

"There's one cabin for each god," he said, but then noticed the puzzled look on my face. "Oh, you don't know about that yet. Each cabin represents an Olympian god. Which cabin you stay in depends on who your godly parent is. All the campers here are children of the Greek gods."

"Wait," I said, "you're saying that one of my parents is a GOD?"

"Yup. I'll give you a minute to process that, I know it can be a lot to take in."

I couldn't believe it. I was just a regular ten-year-old girl. There was no way I could be a child of a Greek god or goddess. It was impossible. Wasn't it?

"You good, Allie?" Connor asked.

"Yeah, just a lot of new information," I said, "and don't call me Allie."

Connor just smiled and stuck his tongue out at me.

As Connor showed me around the rest of the camp, we discussed our godly parents. Connor told me that he was a son of Hermes.

"Wait," I said, "Hermes as in the god of travelers and thieves?"

I read a book about Greek mythology once, so I knew some information about the gods.

"That's the one," Connor said and smiled mischievously.

I made a mental note to never let Connor near my wallet.

"So, who do you think my godly parent is?" I asked him.

"I'm not sure," he said, "tell me about your family so we can determine which parent it is."

"Well, I have a dad, a step-mom, and a step-sister, so I'm assuming my godly parent is my mom," I said.

"Sounds about right," Connor said, "I'll bet you're a child of Aphrodite."

"Why?" I asked.

"Because you know, you're pretty... and all," he said, and turned his eyes to the ground. His face was slightly red.

"Oh... thanks," was all I said. I had shoulder-length dirty blonde hair and brown eyes, and I didn't think I was beautiful or anything. People had said that I was good-looking before, but there was no way I could be the daughter of the goddess of love. No guy had ever complimented me on my looks, and I felt my face getting hotter.

To break the silence, I told Connor a little bit about my family, and then I asked him if he had any siblings. He said he had a brother, Travis, who was a year older than him, and then some of the other campers in Hermes cabin were his half-siblings.

"Why only some of them?" I asked.

"Some campers never get claimed by their godly parent, so they stay in Cabin 11. Hermes is the god of travelers, so everyone is welcomed in his cabin," Connor explained.

"So there's a possibility that I'll never know who my mom is?" I asked.

"Yeah," he said, "but then at least you can stay in Cabin 11 with me." Connor smiled.

"Okay, now I really want to get claimed," I said jokingly.

"Hey! That was mean," said Connor, "I was trying to be nice!"

"Sure," I said but smiled to let him know I was just teasing.

We stopped at a huge shed, which Connor explained was where the weapons were kept. We walked inside, and I saw swords, daggers, bows, some guns, and a bunch more weapons I didn't know the names of.

"So...," I said, "do I just pick anything I want?"

"Yeah, but I would recommend starting off with a sword," said Connor.

I picked up some swords until I found one that felt right in my hand. It had a simple leather grip and a three-foot-long blade of - bronze? I'd never seen a sword like this before.

"Hey Connor, is this bronze?" I asked.

"It's Celestial bronze," Connor replied, "it can wound half-bloods and monsters, but not mortals."

"Wait, what do you mean monsters?" I asked.

"Yeah," he said, "we have borders here at camp so monsters can't come to attack us, but there are monsters in the real world, and in the forest, but those are intentionally stocked as challenges for us."

"What kinds of monsters are there?" I asked, thinking about the weird creatures I've seen at school.

"Hellhounds, cyclopes, hydras, and basically every other monster from Greek mythology. Oh, and they hate demigods, so they'll try to kill you," stated Connor.

"Great," I said, faking a smile.

"Come on," he said, "I wanna show you Cabin 11."
