Breathless (Kirishima x Midoriya)

Part 31

Midoriya's PoV

9 months later

''Hey, Uraraka and Tsu get back today don't they?'' Momo asks politely and I help her dish out the pancakes we're having for breakfast. We hand the dishes out as the others strut downstairs. I sit beside Eijiro as Kami and Sero take their place across from us.

''That was the plan, yeah.'' I answer Momo.

''What are you talking about?'' Sero asks.

''Uraraka and Tsu are coming back later today.''

''God, how d'you think Todoroki feels about it?'' Kami asks

''I don't know, he's pretty distraught already.'' Jirou chimes in.

''Yeah but it'd be worse if engines stayed with him if you think about it.'' Kachan decides to finally join the conversation. ''He'd be lying to Icyhot as well as himself. At least he didn't lead him on because that's just cruel.''

''I can hear you guys y'know and I appreciate the concern but Bakugo's right. I'm glad he told me because it'd be unfair to continue to date him when he has feeling for someone else.'' Todoroki says from the door as he walks in and sits on the other side of me. ''And as distraught as I was, I'm fine now.''

''Sorry Todoroki-kun.'' I mumble before eating my pancakes. We were silent for the most part while eating and by the time we were done, Mina was up with the twins. I walked over to help out with the twins and Ryo wandered through, munching on a sandwich and came to sit with us.

Mina said he could hold one of the twins so he took Midori with a big smile on his face as he played with the child. ''Hey, do you want me to watch the twins today so you and Kachan can go on a date or something?'' I ask and Mina smiles. 

''That'd be great, thanks Mido.'' she says gratefully, handing Mio to me. I cradle her in my arms and Mina gets up to talk with Kachan. Soon enough, Mina gave a thumbs up and Kachan gave a nod of acknowledgement before they went upstairs to shower and change. They came down soon enough in just some casual clothes, both had a small bag, probably containing their phone and purse and they gave a smile and said bye before leaving for the day.

Ryo helped me out as we put the twins in their walkers. They followed me into the kitchen and I grabbed an ice cream for the 3 of them before we head to the main room and put on a movie. I scroll through my phone while the twins bounce in their walkers, munching on their ice creams. Ryo sits next to me, eating his ice cream peacefully. Considering he's only 3, he's very mature. You can hold a coherent conversation with him and he's a super quick learner.

The movie ends and I change the twin's diapers before putting them to sleep again. I set Midori in the cot and I try to get Mio to sleep but she just wouldn't have it so I ended up cradling her in my arms as I sat on the rocking chair. I sung softly to her, just random songs that came to my head. Ryo came in to listen to me sing and he fell asleep on the beanbag. I set Mio in the cot before picking Ryo up and taking him to his room.

He's been having trouble sleeping recently, nightmares. He won't tell me what they're about and he refuses to speak to Ei too.

I sit with him while he sleeps, knowing he'll probably wake up soon. I sit down and I go for my phone when Ryo whimpers. I get up and lie in bed beside him, pulling him into my arms and hugging him tightly. He whimpers softly before he shoots up with a scream. He looks at me and starts to cry as I sit up with him. He collapses into my arms as he sobs, his body shaking with fear.

''Ryo, will you please tell me what's gotten you so worked up?'' I beg, putting my hands on his shoulders as he moves away from my embrace. He looks at me with his glossy eyes and pouts out his bottom lip with one final whimper before he goes to speak.

''...A-at night- she does things.'' he mumbles, looking down.

''Who do you mean 'she' and what does she do?'' I ask. My voice is trembling and Ryo's pretty clearly about to cry. ''Hey, I'm not going to shout at you, I just need to know so I can make the bad dreams go away.'' I say with a sweet smile which he attempts to return but just frowns instead, tears filling his big emerald eyes.

He stands up and pulls down his pants to show me his thigh. The word 'mistake' was carved into it in small letters. The first letters were more healed than the last which was still a little bloody. The cuts weren't deep enough to need stitches but would almost definitely scar.

I started to sob uncontrollably. I cupped his face with my hands. ''W-who?'' I ask, I already know the answer but that doesn't mean I accept it. I don't want to accept the fact that she's back but I'm going to have to. ''Does she have long pink hair?'' I ask.

''A-and darker skin too, I'm sorry if that was rude.'' he says after nodding.

''No baby, that's fine. I need you...'' I say, pausing as I boop his nose with a smile. ''To sleep with me and papa tonight, okay?'' I ask.

He giggles slightly before saying ''Okay daddy.''

I pick him up and hoist him over my shoulder before taking him to the kitchen to find the med kit. I take a photo before I clean his cuts before wrapping his leg with a bandage. I pull his pants back up again before standing him up and turning around. He hops on my back and I run around with him, pretending I'm a rocket ship and he's a famous astronaut. It's his favorite thing to do is sit on my back while I run around.

''Ooo~ you look excited.'' Eijiro says from the door.

''Daddy's going to stop the bad dreams.'' Ryo says happily.

''And how's he going to do that?'' Eijiro says with a frown. I set Ryo down on the floor with a smile.

''Will you go and make sure the twins are still asleep sweetheart?'' I ask and he nods and runs off to the twins room. I pull out my phone and show him the photo of Ryo's leg. ''Aoi decided to come back. That's her work right there.'' I say with anger lacing my voice.

''But he never even made a sound.'' Eijiro says sadly with tears glossing his vision.

''Aoi's quirk can silence people for a limited amount of time. She probably just-'' I try to explain but choke up slightly, tears in my eyes.

''Daddy, papa! Mio's awake!'' Ryo shouts from the door. I wipe my eyes and turn around with a smile.

''I'm coming, just give me a moment.'' I say softly, pushing Eijiro towards him. ''But papa's here.'' I say before whispering to Eijiro. ''I'm going to message the others.'' he nods and walks away to the twins room with Ryo.
