We woke up the next morning to the sound of someone hitting a gong. We stayed in the right side of the monastery. There was a room with two bunk beds and a bathroom. A circular window let the golden light of the sun onto the wooden floors. I looked over to my alarm clock on a nightstand and it showed 7:47. I saw Alex's arm hanging from the top bunk and I poked it to make sure he was awake, but I'm sure the gong woke him up.
"Why did you wake us up so early?" Violet asked.
I sat up and I looked over to my left, where the other bunk was. Violet had taken the bottom and Amber had already claimed the top bunk since she was here before us.
"Today is your first day of training, and it's not that early," Wu said.
"Wait but we just got here yesterday, shouldn't we, like, have a tour of this place or something?" Alex asked in a very tired voice.
"Never put until tomorrow what can be done today," Wu replied.
We all looked at each other as he walked away. For the next ten minutes we had washed our faces and gotten ready for the training. We all put on our suits, I was still amazed by that golden tornado he created, but how the heck did he manage to put these on us??? The thought left my mind as soon as we all walked out into the open space of the monastery. I saw Wu walking towards a wooden cabinet, and he opened it. Inside were wooden and metal swords, shuriken, and a bunch of other weapons. He then walked back to where we were standing.
"I'm confused. Aren't we going to use weapons?" I asked.
"That's your goal, but first you need to know hand to hand combat," Wu said.
"I know how to use a sword," I replied
"Ok Daren, show me,"
I walked over to him, and he pulled out a sword for me. It had a sharp edge and a dark red handle. I grabbed it but immediately found my face an inch way from his wooden staff as he used his right hand to thrust it towards me. I spun to the right and held up my sword with both hands. Wu took a step to his left, spun around and swung his staff at me. Stepping back, I swung my sword upwards, and I blocked the staff. We both moved back and started walking around in a circle.
"Ok, not bad but you have a lot to learn," Wu said.
"Well, you haven't seen anything yet," I said.
I ran towards him with my swords at my side and I swung it upwards. He moved his staff to blocked but he grabbed my collar and pulled me forward. He moved towards my back and hit it with the tip of his staff. The impact sent me forward, almost stumbling, but when I turned around, I saw the end of his staff thrust into my chest. I flew a few feet back and fell on the floor. He stepped forward and created the golden tornado and it spun towards me. I quickly stood back up and brought my sword up, but he came out of the tornado with his staff crashing against my sword. It flew out of my hands and Wu held his staff up to my neck. I put my hands up to surrender.
"I can see that you are most proficient with a sword," Wu said in a sarcastic tone.
"Alright I admit I'm not the best with one," I replied.
"I have chosen Amber to be in charge of teaching you how to fight. Alex, since you own a Dojo, you might not have too much trouble with this. You and Violet will practice with amber, Daren you'll come with me,"
Alex and Violet walked with Amber into the middle of the open space, and she began showing them some form of fighting technique. Wu had taken a seat. I followed him to the steps, and I sat next to him.
"No, you stand up for this," he said.
I stood in front of him, and he looked at my hand.
"You have your uncle's power in your veins, literally. The sword is infused with the element of fire, but that element is in you. You can call to it on command, but you have to learn how to." Wu explained.
He looked at my hand and he reached towards it and grabbed it. I was confused.
" Now focus on channeling that energy to your hand, feel it flow through your veins. Find it and bring it to your hand, "
I felt a small burn through from my elbow crawling to my hand. I lifted my right sleeve to reveal my veins were glowing brightly with an orange color. Wu took his hand off and as soon as he did, my hand caught on fire. I was amazed by the fact that I could hold fire in my hand. This was crazy.
" Hey, when are we gonna learn to do that, " Alex asked.
Alex had caught my fire hand in the corner of his eye which made him curious. Violet and Amber walked behind him.
" In time you will all be able to master your elements and become great warriors, but first I have the team's first adventure, " Wu said.
He pulled out a map, and when he unrolled it on the floor, it looked the map I found in my uncle's shop, but it was larger and instead of four golden weapons it had eight. One of the golden weapons was scratched out though. Wu pointed to a golden double-bladed axe that had a curved blade attached to the top of the weapon.
"Alex's weapon is the closest to us, so you will go the screaming mountains," Wu explained.
We all looked at each other in worry, the screaming mountains are the tallest in all of Ninjago, not to mention that the winds up there are extremely strong. It would make sense why Alex's weapon is up there.
"Garmadon will be looking for your golden weapons, so I suggest you all train for a few more days. Alex, make sure to train the team in hand-to-hand combat, you'll never know when you'll need it."
Wu walked to his tea table to overlook are training.
"Alright team, let's get to work
