Chapter 21, True Potential

I sprinted towards him. I swung my sword down at his shoulder, but he moved this his right and dodged it. He swung his right fist up and at my side. I flinched from the impact, but I returned a swing from my sword. This time it just barely caught his left arm. He growled and he threw another punch. I spun past him and shot a ball of fire at him. It pushed him back a bit. His arms then lit up with electricity. He threw a shot of lightning at me. I deflected it onto the floor with my sword. He continued to throw several shots until I lost grip on my sword. It fell far from me. I saw that he was getting ready to throw something big at me. My arms caught on fire. With both of his, he unleashed a massive beam of lightning. I did the same and I shot a large beam of fire in return. They collided in between us, which resulted in a large pulse of energy in the middle. I tried pushing my fire forward, but his lightning begun to wrap around my fire and it slowly crept closer to me. I yelled and focused all of my elemental energy into my arms. 

"Yo Daren!"

I turned my head and saw Alex managed to get on one knee. He reached out his arm and shot a beam of wind at my fire. The size of it begun to increase and I saw it was pushing Garmadon's lightning back. Alex and I both pushed as hard as we could to fight the lightning. He looked very shocked as he need to put more effort into his power. His feet begun to slide back as we pushed our energy to its limits. His beam of lightning broke and he was sent flying into the wall behind him. I ran over to Alex to check on him. The cut on his chest was pretty deep. His connection with his element was keeping him up for now. 

"Hey I got this. You need to get out of here. Wait outside for the rest of our team. If they come back, maybe they could back me up with Garmadon."  

He nodded and I helped him up to his feet. He grabbed his golden weapon but then gave me a fist bump before leaving.

"Good luck," he said.

I smiled and turned my attention to Garmadon. My arms were again engulfed with flames. His did as well. He walked away from the wall and towards me. I shot a ball of fire at him. He moved to the side and dodged it, then he ran at me. He threw an uppercut. I was ready this time. I used both my hands to grab his wrist, but then I kicked his right shin. It caused him to fall on one knee. I pulled back my right arm and threw a punch right across his face. A portal suddenly appeared below him and he fell through. I was still holding into his fist, so I was pulled through with him. Another portal opened on the ceiling. I fell out of it and landed on the floor. I'm not going to lie, I landed with a cool superhero landing. I snapped out of it as I saw Garmadon fall out as well. I rolled out of the way because when he landed, he punched the ground and more lightning shot up from it. He stood up and shot a bolt of lightning towards me. I held my ground, and I caught bolt with my hand. My fire around my hand surrounded and it disappeared. he saw this and looked very upset. His eyes lit up and he threw a fury of shots. I began to run towards him while dodging the lightning. I spun to my left to dodge one bolt. Then I spun to the right. Suddenly, it seemed like everything was slowing down. I glanced below my feet and saw sparks with every step I took. I spun again to dodge a bolt of lightning and I saw that a circle of fire was forming at my feet. Then I took one final spin and it happened. I was immediately surrounded by fire. it formed into a tornado around me. I ran faster towards Garmadon, but on the outside it spun towards him. He spun to his left and he was surrounded by his own tornado. When I reached him, my tornado clashed against his for a few seconds, but then I reached my arm out and threw a punch to his face. The impact caused him to fly out of his tornado and back into the wall. My tornado disappeared and I ran at him. I threw a punch, but he moved to the right and my fist hit the wall. It split right down the middle. He threw a punch to my gut, but I blocked it. We exchanged swings at each other. Each one was followed by a trail of fire and lightning. I gained the upper hand by catching him off guard with my sudden surge of power. He tried to move past me, but I placed my hand on his chest and pushed him back into the wall. 

"You're not going anywhere."

I threw a fiery punch to his chest, and he crashed through the wall and fell on the other side. We were now outside of the fortress. I stepped through the hole, my fists still on fire. He stood up and raised both arms to shoot two beams of electricity. I responded by doing the same with my fire. Both beams clashed in the middle of us once more. I let out a yell and pushed my fire passed his lightning. It reached him and he slid back. My body began to glow a faint red color. I could feel my elemental power throughout me. I called for my sword, and it appeared through the hole in the wall. It caught on fire. I swung it diagonally and it shot a small wave of fire. It hit Garmadon dead center. I swung it again and again, inching my way closer to him. He blocked most of them, but I knew he was getting tired. When I reached him, I stabbed my sword at him. It caught his side, and he yelled in pain. I then pulled it back and swung at his chest. He caught the edge of the sword with both of his hands. He looked at me and his eyes glowed with purple energy. His arms did as well. He threw a kick to my stomach, and I slid back. I twirled my sword and raised it in front of me. 

"Did you think it was going to be this easy Ninja?" he said. 

I gripped my sword with both hands and stood ready. Something then sparkled in the corner of my eye. Two golden shuriken flew past me and landed at each of Garmadon's feet. 

"What the-"

Ice was shot out of them, and it crept up his legs. I looked to my right and saw Amber. She pulled off her hood and raised both of her arms. She shot a large beam of light blue energy. Her eyes glowed with that same color. Then I felt someone touch my arm. I looked to the left and saw Violet had fist bumped my arm. She pulled off her hood and then saw Garmadon. Her eyes glowed with blue energy, and she shot a beam of energy at him. Alex stepped next to Violet and did the same. He pulled off his hood and unleashed a beam of green energy. I lodged my sword into the ground and brought my arms up. I shot a beam of red energy at him. He had crossed his arms in front of him, but all of our power hit him head on. We all gave it one final push, and Garmadon was sent flying back. He fell onto the floor and his arms were left smoking from all that energy. He stood up but was hit from his left side. A golden tornado crashed into him. It disappeared and Wu was left standing in its place. 

"Brother, It's over."

Garmadon looked at Wu, and then looked at us. He slowly stood back up without breaking eye contact with us. 

"If you think that you and your little team of ninja have stopped me, then you are mistaken. I will have my revenge, and when I do, I will turn Ninjago into my own image."

A portal opened behind him, and he threw himself back into it. Wu reached out his hand to grab his brother, but he had already disappeared. We walked over to him. 

"He will return, but I am positive that you all will be ready to face him again."

We all nodded. I turned around and stared into the empty void that was the Underworld.

'Sooo, anyone ready to go home yet?"
