S C A R L E TI saw what happened. I was there, behind Ash when suddenly a ball came flying and it hit her right on the head. It was too fast and unfortunately, my reflexes weren't fast enough to prevent the ball from hitting her. Kasalanan ko 'to.
When she stood up and told me she wanted to go the cafeteria to cool down, I knew exactly why she did that. It's because she saw me blushing from the heat. Honestly, I'm the kind of person who would just stay at home.
But I obliged to Ash's request because it's an important day for her. Kahit na naiinis na ako dahil sa sobrang init sa field, I still ate with the girls. Like me, they probably wanted to grant Ash's request.
This day is different from any other day. Because today is Astrid's auditions. Isang buwan siyang naghanda para dito. Her parents supported her and are rooting for her to pass. Now that we're in the eleventh grade, she's now eligible to be a member of the elite dance club.
Luminarie has always been an inspiration to Astrid. She enrolled to a lot of dance classes to hone her skills in dancing. She watches their videos often. During the whole month before the auditions, halos sa practice room na lang namin siya makikita. Her dedication and diligence was something the four of us really look up to.
We know how badly she wants to be a member. Her eyes would always light up whenever she talks about the club. I witnessed her perseverance and hard work. As a friend, I made sure I was there to support her. Kaya nga ako nandito ngayon, sinasamahan siya on the day of her auditions.
Unfortunately, the other three have fixed plans already. The club officials of Luminarie changed it from Monday to Saturday. Ash told me it was fine, para daw makapag-practice pa siya. Honestly, I can't believe her. Sobrang perfect na nung performance niya, practicing was unnecessary.
"One southwest salad and one grilled chicken sandwich. Two bottled water din," I said my orders and paid for it.
Nagugutom na siguro si Ash. Even I was starving. I didn't want to eat dinner unless she woke up. I turned around to leave when I suddenly bumped into someone.
"Shit! Sorry, miss," he said. I looked up to glare at him. Damn, tall people. Napaka-unfair.
"You're the one who carried Ash earlier right?" I asked him, my brows furrowed. He nervously nodded. He can't even look at me properly. I know why. It's because he was the one responsible for the incident.
"I'm Hunter Devlin. Nice to meet you," he said, offering his hand.
"Look into my eyes," I said. He obliged. We stared at each other for a few seconds before I decided to break the lingering silence.
"Ikaw yung nagbato ng bola diba?"
