The Listener
Sadie's POV:
Both Millie and I pull up at the skatepark after receiving quite the text from Noah. Sure, we got distracted but at least we look nice. Both of us jump out of the car and walk through the gate to see Finn already on his board and Noah sitting at the top of the bowl.
"Where'd you get that?!" Millie asks whilst walking over to Noah.
"Well, you two were taking too long so Finn and I got a coffee." Noah says with a teasing smile.
"And you didn't get us one?" Millie pops her hip and crosses her arms.
I drop my head and giggle at Noah and Millie. They have a different relationship, I wouldn't say 'brother and sister' because well, just no.
"No, we didn't, but we're in the main part of town! The coffee shop is like 2 metres away." Noah says mimicking what Millie said to him earlier at Finn's.
"Ugh you're an ass! C'mon Sade's." Millie rolls her eyes and pulls my arm as we make our way back out the gate.
I feel myself being pulled along by Millie as she storms out the skatepark entrance. I can't help but smile at the girl's actions.
"Millie slow down!" I say laughing, wriggling my arm from her grip.
"Sorry, sorry." She says, slowing down her pace.
"What is it with you and Noah?" I ask her.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Like, you to bicker like sibli-"
"Sadie don't say siblings!" She slaps my shoulder, opening her mouth with a shocked expression.
"Sorry!" I laugh.
"I don't know to be fair, I guess that's just how we are." Millie shrugs.
"Mm."
We both continue to walk down the path that leads us to the coffee shop, it's rather busy today. I mean, it is a Saturday morning so I can understand. The little shops that are really overly expensive for what they sell but, makes the town look a lot nicer in my opinion. I see a few familiar faces from school, no one whom I was close with though. We finally reach the small coffee shop. The small space only occupied by a couple old women and two workers. We push the door open to hear a small bell fill our ears.
"Hello girls!" An older lady yells.
Except this older lady isn't any older lady.
"Mrs. Ryder?!" Both Millie and I say in sync.
"Indeed, it is! How are you lovely ladies?" She asks, coming out from behind the cashier and giving us both a hug.
Mrs. Ryder was both mine and Millie's favourite teacher. She was like a mother figure to everyone at the school, but I knew deep down we were her two favourites.
"Yes good, how are you? We didn't know you worked here!" Millie says with a cheery smile.
"Yes, well I only started a couple weeks ago. I needed some extra money since schools out." She says with a small smile, walking back behind the cashier space.
"What are you girls doing in main town anyways?" Mrs. Ryder asks.
"The boys wanted to go to the skate park, so we decided to tag along." I say with a smile.
"Oh, like Jacob and Caleb?" MRs. Ryder furrows her eyebrows.
I almost choke on air as I remember, she doesn't know what's happened. Both me a Millie give each other a shocked look before looking back at the confused lady.
