'Can't we just...look it up on the internet? Why do we have to go to some boring library?' Zac's words hit me hard. Library's are not boring, in fact I would prefer Library's over technical devices.
'No, we are going to a library. And that is that you, you...you son of a lolipop.' I say, sighing at my failed comeback. Zac just snickers.
'Come on then, we haven't got all day.' We actually did have all day and since we were going to a library I could spend my whole life there. Why people had problems with library's, I had no idea. Library's are magical places but I have to admit, there is one downer.
Can you guess?
It's the fact that food and water are not allowed.
'Come on then, hop in.' I stared at Zachary's car, I didn't really want to get in. I'd much rather go in my own car, even walk.
"I think I'll walk, get some fresh air." I say, immediately regretting my choice as a cold breeze hits my bare arms. I don't even have a jacket.
"Don't be silly, it's cold. Come on, get in." I didn't need to be asked twice, it was freezing. I ran to the car and Zac opened the door, I thanked him and got inside. "So, what way is it?" I mentally face palmed, this boy knew how to get to the next city but failed to memorise the route to a library?
I directed him to the library and it was only a ten minute drive but I doubt he will remember the way back. I got out of the car quickly, not giving him a chance to open the door for me. I ran inside and breathed in the scent of books, glorious, precious books. I ran my finger down some spines and clutched some books to my chest. How can one live without books?
I walked over to the Non-Fiction section and delved into searching for books about space. I suddenly spotted two books, and they looked very old- bonus. I tiptoed and grabbed the book, I was about to pull it when I noticed, someone was pulling it from the other side. I stayed up on my tiptoes and carried on pulling, I just had to get this book. I grasped it firmly and pulled with all my might, I had the book! I looked through the gap, where the book was and saw none other than Aaron.
"I beat Aaron, you know it. Do you want a victory dance to show it?!" I say, grabbing the book. Aaron walked round the aisle and started quoting Macbeth. I played with him at this game and when he reached my side of the isle I just had to quote one of my favourite lines of the witches.
"From the twiddle of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes." I quote. He seemed impressed but little did he know that I was flabbergasted at seeing him at a library and quoting Macbeth.
"Why weren't you at school?" I ask, flicking through the pages of a well earned book.
"Hospital. Why? Were you worried about me?" He asks. I roll my eyes, this was expected.
"No. But the more important question, what are you doing here?" I ask.
"That's none of your business." He says, walking round the library.
It's time to be a spy.
I tiptoed following him. I noticed he stopped at the MEDICATION aisle. I gulped as he grabbed a book on...
Cancer.
I ran to the front library desk and handed the librarian my book and card. She put it on my record then handed me back my possessions. I ran to Zac.
"Come on, let's go." I needed to get out of here, fast and thankfully, Zac didn't question me.
Maybe I'm mistaken, Aaron can't have cancer, otherwise he would have told me, right? Why would he tell me though?
