I didn't at all know what I was thinking when I agreed to go to prom with Aaron, I mean, I only broke the news to my family and friends five minutes ago and they've already started pressurising me.

"What hairstyle should we do on Jemma?"Courtney starts.

"Forget hairstyle! What dress is she going to wear?" Lily replies.

"That means SHOPPING!" Mum squeals. Oh no, not shopping. "I'll give you girls £60, go and buy a fabulous prom dress for my little Jemma. Oh and £50 for shoes and accessories. Meanwhile I will be deciding on the hairstyle."

Oh boy.

Why can't mum give me that sort of money for other stuff, why shopping?

"Calm down, it's just prom, not a wedding for gods sake." I respond.

"Not yet." Mum giggles while Lily snorts.

"Oh, what will be the budget then, Mrs Newman?" Courtney says, feeling the need to chime in.

"Hehehe, you don't even know!"

Please save me.

**Clueless**

I sigh as Lily puts another horrible, yet flawless dress in front of me. "Courtney! What do you think? Does purple go...or blue?" Lily asks.

"Purple, defiantly! So, mid thigh or full length? How about...BALL GOWN!" Courtney suggests and I am 100% against the idea, but before I can give my say Lily beats me to it.

"Perfect! Purple ball gown it is! Okay, shoes! I'm thinking fabulous purple heels Oooh and a matching purple clutch bag. Fantabulous or what?" She squeals, leaving me to have no option but to cover my ears.

Honestly, they are more bothered about my prom then their own. Speaking of which...who are their dates? I remember something about Lily but why can I say? My memory is like Alfie's, he was a good little fishy.

"Girls, who are you going prom with?" I ask, trying to change the topic.

Lily looks down. "Zac, remember I told you? And don't worry about our dresses, we've already bought them." Oh yes...I remember.

"Well, I actually have good news. I'm going with Andrew." Courtney announces.

Lily's jaw dropped wide open, mine would have done too but pfft I don't want her to make me look like an idiot.

I can do that myself.

"Andrew....Andrew Hawkins? That nerd who is always reading?" Lily asks.

"Yes." Courtney responds.

"Perfect for eachother." I say.

"Anyways, we need to find the perfect outfit for Jemma pronto so chop chop people."

Here we go again, it's all about the shoes, and the ruddy dress and bag.

Just then my phone rings and I hesitate to answer it when mum's caller ID shows up on my screen.
"Yes, mum? Yes they have decided on a purple ball gown and now are looking for a matching pair of shoes and a clutch bag. Please, put me out of my misery and let my wear a basic dress."

And cue mum chuckling....

"Whatever mum." I say, hanging up.

Now I'm quite annoyed actually, no-one is listening to me.

"OMG Look! Forget purple pumps! I found some absolutely gorgeous silver heels!" Lily says, picking them up. "And they are in your size! It's destiny. How are you doing with the Clutch bag, Courtney?"

"Well, I've found the perfect bag too! It's the exact shade of silver on the heels and has rhinestones all over it! Ooooh and look at these earings!"

Yippee.

Note the sarcasm.
