Logan's POV
I sat in class, tapping my pencil on the desk, completely zoned out on what was going on around us. I had drowned out what Mr. Dawson was saying since I walked into the classroom this morning. I haven't even typed any notes from his lecture at all.
"-tonight?" I heard him ask as Mr. Dawson looked at me.
"I'm sorry, what?" I asked as I lifted the pencil off the desk and stopped tapping.
Mr. Dawson laughed, "I asked if you are ready for your first game tonight, but it seems as if you are in the zone already."
The entire class laughed, and I laughed along, "Don't take it personally. And by the way, the word government is spelled wrong on your PowerPoint," I said as I pointed my pencil toward the board.
He got back into his lecture, and I zoned back out. I was thinking of tonight's game and what would go on during it. I wasn't worried about the game part. I was concerned about the after-game interviews. Multiple sports agencies have contacted me saying they would be there tonight and that they wanted a quote, and I happily agreed, but that was one of the most stressful parts. I also have my father on my back, wanting me to tour the schools in Texas that have offered me.
I felt someone grab my shoulder, and Alex was standing next to me with all of his books in his hand, "Logan, you didn't type anything," he said as he looked at my computer.
"I am aware, and that's why I have you to send me the notes," I said as I looked up at him. He just rolled his eyes and leaned down to kiss my forehead.
"Get a room you two," Carson said as she looked down at her phone. She had mostly been glued to her phone the past month. After homecoming, she ditched Jacob and was fine for about a month, but for the past couple of weeks, she has been acting weird. I am just assuming it has to do with the basketball season starting.
"So," Alex started, "are you excited for the game tonight?"
"Yes, but I am more excited for the tournament this weekend," I said as I closed my computer and put the pencil back into the bag. It wasn't even used for writing. It was just used so I could zone out.
"I will be front row, in our student section, cheering you on as well," he said as I stood up.
"If this is anything like football, then you guys will probably get kicked out of the gym by the refs," I said as we walked toward the door waiting for the bell to ring.
"We make it our goal to get kicked out every game. The referees hate us during our home basketball games," Tyler said as he came up behind Alex and me.
"With the fantastic four, it wouldn't surprise me if you guys had an undefeated season," Alex said as he put his arm around my shoulder.
"Fantastic four?" I asked.
Tyler looked at me and rolled his eyes, "You, Carson, Cora, and Leila. You all do different positions, and you're seniors who are going D1. You all are going to dominate. Plus, you all are good friends, so it will be great chemistry."
The bell rang, and the three of us walked out together. Usually, Carson walked with us, but she was ten feet behind us with her nose in her phone.
"Carson and I could be closer if she didn't have her nose in her phone," I mumbled.
Tyler looked at me, "She is talking to some basketball dude, don't worry about it. It will be over as soon as it started. I got to get to class. See you guys later."
