A lost love

This one-shot will talk about Johanna's return, the choices she will make and the consequences for the person she loves.

I'm Johanna Mason, I won the 71th Hunger Games when I was 15. People know me well because I handle the ax well. I hate the Capitol, they're monster. Sending children to kill themselves in an arena, you must be completely stupid.

I will tell you how my life changed overnight.

On my return from the games

I almost made it to District 7. I can't wait to see my boyfriend Jason again. I had promised him that I would win for him and that's what I did. He's the one who took care of me after my parents were killed by soldiers from the Capitol.

When the train stops, I hurry out and see him. I scream his name, he screams mine and I jump into his arms. He twirled me around then put me down and we kiss. We finally separate and I hug him as tight as I can.

"I'm proud of you, you made it. You won."

"I could never have done it without you." I say with tears in my eyes.

We decided to return to my new house in the village of victors. The houses are much bigger than the others. I find that really unfair. It is not by offering ourselves a big house that we can forget all the horrors we have experienced in the arena.

After several hours spent together, Jason unfortunately has to go to work. He left and promise me to come tonight. Suddenly, I heard a knock on the door, it was weird, I wasn't expecting anyone. So I opened the door and found myself face to face with President Snow. Oh, that I hate this person.

"President Snow, what do I owe this honor ?" I say, trying to smile.

"I'd like to talk to you, Miss Mason, if you don't mind."

"Sure."

I let him in and sat in the living room. I saw by his hypocritical smile that he had an idea behind his head but I didn't know what.

"So what do you want to talk about ?"

"You see Miss Mason, the Capitol adores you, especially the men."

"Which means" I tried to continue but he intervenes.

"Men want you, so at the age of sixteen you will go to the Capitol for a whole month a year to give these gentlemen what they want." he said smiling.

"Do you want me to sleep with them ? I hope you are kidding !" I said starting to feel a big anger in me.

"I'm afraid not, Miss Mason. So do you get it ?"

"Of course I understood, but there is no way I will."

"Pay attention Miss Mason, it would be a shame if something happened to the people you love."

I was shocked at what he had just said. He was threatening Jason. But I will never let him.

"Do not even dare to touch a single hair !"

"You don't believe me ? Let me show you something that will change your mind."

He motioned and I saw Jason enter, tied up by two soldiers. 

"Don't touch him !" I yelled but they prevented me from approaching her.

I looked him in the eyes, but all I saw was fear.

"Johanna" he said and I understood he knew this was going to  be the end.

"No." I said, about to burst into tears.

"So are you ready to do what I say ?" Snow asked me, still with his hypocritical smile.

"Never !" I screamed with all my might.

"Alright, gentlemen, you now what to do."

With that, one of the soldiers pulled out his pistol and shot Jason in the head. My heart broke when I saw his lifeless body touch the ground. I collapsed to the floor, tears streaming down my cheeks.

"I hope this serves as a lesson to you, Miss Mason." Snow said before leaving with the two soldiers.

I walked over to Jason's body and cried against his shoulder.

I had lost everything, everything. The Capitol was going to pay me, Snow was going to pay me. I will find a way to get revenge and when I do, I will prove to Jason that he did not die in vain. His death will have succeeded in triggering one thing, my thirst for revenge.

So here is the one-shot about Johanna. I thought it was good topic because she tells us at the 75th Hunger Games that she doesn't have anyone left and I thought it was a good idea to show why she hated the Capitol so much.
