Ryland

24 HOURS! It has been 24 hours since those idiots went in there. Therefore it has been 22 hours since I had lost my mind. What could have happened! After 4 hours I had called Officer Nichols to find out what he was thinking about the obvious snag in the plan. Basically he had prohibited me from entering the building until he had come up with a back-up plan. That was 20 hours ago. I am done waiting. I dug around in my pocket trying to find my phone. Once I had found it and dialed Nichols’ number I could feel my heart beat racing. He was not going to like what I had to say if he had nothing. “Hello Ryland, I am sorry this is taking so long but I...” Yeah no time for that story, “just listen for a second Nichols. I am done waiting for the NYPD to once again be no help to my family. I have to go in there and figure out what is going on.” I heard him sigh on the other line. “Ryland I agree with you.” Wait what! “Did you just agree with me?” I mean I know I was good at getting my way but I just told an entire police force that they had sucked. I could have been arrested for saying that.

“Yes I did. Listen, we have come up with nothing else that can guarantee the safety of your family. It looks as though sending in a single person may be the best option. I would still like you to attempt to get a signal to us if you find them and remember, be careful.” Alright, this was going to happen. I could do this. Did I not say that I was the only one who could save Rydel? I don’t think I had actually believed that it would be this literal and come down to me but I was prepared a long time ago. I hung up the phone with Officer Nichols and got out of the van. I went around to the trunk to grab supplies and headed straight to the front door. I had one shot at this and one shot only. Otherwise the Police were infiltrating this warehouse and someone that I cared about was getting hurt. I was not going to let that happen.

How could we be so stupid! We had planned and planned for hours before coming here and yet we missed probably the biggest detail in our plan; the floor plan of the ware house. If we had just taken a quick second to figure out a brief understanding of the halls, we may not have run into each other drawing attention to us so quickly. It was already hard enough to keep a group of musicians quiet. Rydel would have thought about that. Speaking of Rydel, we had managed to accomplish one thing. We had found her. She did not know this unfortunately so we were forced to sit in these stupid chairs all tied up watching Rydel cry. It was heart breaking.

After I woke up it had taken me a few moments to realize what had happened. We were in a dark room with what must have been a 2 way mirror. Thinking about what I last remembered I determined that the guy who had snuck up on us had not been alone and we were all knocked out with some form of chloroform or something. They had obviously taken us somewhere deeper into the warehouse to prove that we had failed.  Boy had we failed miserably. Rydel was in a small glass room that was across a hall from our mirror. Her room was rather tiny and had air holes around the walls. She looked tired, bored, sad, angry, and to be honest a little thin. There was a metal door on one wall that I figure must have been for her food since there was a small tray right in front of it. I am guessing Rydel had not wanted to eat much over the last few months as there was still about half a tray of food there. On the back of one wall was a poster of R5. Rydel had been cut out of it and Sabrina had been placed in her spot. That is just rude!

I was so completely lost in my thoughts of desperation for Rydel that Riker just about gave me a heart attack as he realized what was around us. “RYDEL!” From across our row of chairs you could hear Rocky and Ross jump from the sudden outburst. “Jesus Riker, that isn’t going to help anything, we all see her so would you just relax for five seconds.” Rocky was taking this unusually well for someone who had spent so long looking for this girl. “Look at her guys. She looks awful.” Looking at her was all I had been able to do since I came to. There were small cut marks on her face and her clothes were pretty much rags now. Her hair hadn’t seen a hair brush in the entire 4 months she had been here and her make-up had been smeared across her face. She looked horrible and yet she was still beautiful to me. Beautiful or not, we had to get her out of there. She needed sunlight, happiness, and me. I needed to tell her we were here to save her. I want to see her smile!
