Rydel

It had finally happened! At the time I was too shocked to fully recognize what we had just done. It was New Years Eve in Time Square, New York City. R5 had just come off stage from one of the greatest gigs we could have ever landed and Riker was beaming with pride. “You guys rocked!” he shouted. Riker had always dreamed of performing at a huge event. This certainly fell under that category. He looked around the group and continued. “Ross, your voice was spot on! Ellington I can’t believe how much energy you had up there tonight. Rocky, all I can say is incredible, and Rydel your keys were perfection.” Everyone was sweating from head to toe. That was how we did it. Rock until you drop. I turned to Riker and gave him a giant hug. “Riker you were amazing too! We have finally played a nationwide show!” Ellington, Rocky, and Ross were swept into hugs and kisses from our Mom and Dad. At the same time, our little brother Ryland tackled Riker and I. The evening continued on with more hugs and congratulations from fans and friends. Honestly New Years Eve 2013 could not have been better. That was, until I landed my first kiss. The party had been amazing. Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, and Maroon 5 had rocked the rest of the night away on various stages while Ryan Seacrest led us all up to the countdown for 2014. As countdown started we all held hands standing in the crowd in front of center stage. It was a great feeling watching the ball drop and just as one was shouted out by the crowd I was suddenly pulled to my right where I was met with a pair of soft, warm lips connecting with mine. I pulled away to see Ellington smiling down at me saying “Happy New Year’s Rydel!” I was jerked to the left still wrapped in Ellington’s arms. “I knew it!” shouted Rocky. “I knew you were going to kiss her. I saw your face earlier and I knew you were ready to tell her how you felt. Ah this makes me so excited. Riker, Ross, Ryland he did it! I told you he was going to make a move.” I could feel my face getting hotter by the second. I had just shared my first kiss with my best friend and drummer of the band we shared with my brothers. Not to mention one of them had seen it. I looked up at Rocky with what I am sure was a puzzled face. “You knew he felt this way? And hang on, what exactly do you feel Ellington?” Turning back to him, I could see a sparkle of excitement in his eyes. “Rydel we can talk later, I promise. But for now, just know that I kissed you and that this has literally been the greatest night of my life.” All I could do was smile. I was ecstatic. Best show ever, best night ever, and feeling loved. What more could I have asked for. Well as it turns out, I could have asked for a roommate. No one saw that coming.
