RUE'S POV

I sat on my bed, painting Miranda's nails. Jess was reading a book and Sam was taking a shower. "I prefer purple for my nails though", I said. "I'm more of a nude colour person, I guess. It always fits my skin", Miranda said with a smile. "It does", I said admiring my work. Someone's phone started ringing and our heads shot towards the side table. "Sam, your phone is ringing!", Jess yelled. "Coming!", Sam yelled from the bathroom. The phone kept ringing continuously. "Sam I think it's urgent", Miranda said. Sam came out of the bathroom in a haste and quickly picked up her phone, "It's just Ty". We continued what we were doing as she picked the call. When we realized that she wasn't talking, we turned to look at her. Her eyes widened in shock and I quickly stood up. "W..wh... what did you just say?", Sam stammered. I was starting to get worried and so were Jess and Miranda. I urged her to speak but she just shook her head, "Ok...okay. We'll be waiting". She cut the call and I immediately questioned her, "What happened?". Sam looked at me with worried and shocked eyes as she grabbed my shoulders and struggled to speak. She finally broke down in tears and said, "Blake's been arrested. They said he killed Dylan". The words stung my ear as they came out. Blake's been arrested? Dylan's dead? And finally, they think Blake killed Dylan?

Tyler came to pick us up and we went to the station. He said Sam's parents were already on the way. I couldn't stop the tears from falling as Jack gently consoled me. Jess called Jace and he, Jeff and Skylar were already on their way. Immediately we got to the station, I immediately ran out of the car and straight inside the station, everyone following closely behind me. I met the officer at the desk, "Blake...Blake Andrews. We're here to see him". The officer looked at me flatly. Tyler slammed the desk, "We need to see Blake Andrews. He was brought in here tonight". "Only 3 of you are allowed to go in", the officer said flatly. Jess and Miranda gestured for I, Sam and Tyler to go. Jack assured us that he'll take care of them. We quickly followed the officer as he led us to a cell.

There, sitting on the floor was Blake looking very lonely and beaten up. "Blake!", Sam screamed. He looked up and quickly stood up and walked to the edge of the cage to meet us. "Sam, Rue. You have to believe me. I didn't do it", he said quickly. "We know we know. Mum and Dad are on their way. They'll sort this out. Don't worry", Sam said sounding very confident but deep down she was just as scared as all of us. Tyler held her as he comforted her. Blake stretched his hands through the bar towards me and I quickly took it. The officer moved to separate us but Tyler's glare stopped him. "Rue, I didn't do it. I don't know what they're talking about. Dylan was fine when I left", Blake said looking very torn. "Left where?", I asked curiously. "The gym. He was at the gym. He came to meet me and we got into a fight but he was fine before I left. I wouldn't kill him Rue. I can't", he said as slow tears started to drop from his face. I held his hands tightly, not letting him go, "Don't worry. You'll be fine. I'm here no matter what".

Minutes later, Mr and Mrs Andrews walked approached us. Sam ran to meet her mum who immediately engulfed her. Sam's dad went to meet the senior officer while mum urged us to calm down. Few moments later, Sam's dad came back with the senior officer. The officer turned to Blake, "We're going to have to interrogate you, Mr Andrews. If we don't find anything against you, you may leave but if we do, you're staying". Blake quickly nodded and they released him out of the cell. He immediately hugged me and I hugged him back tightly, too scared to let go but I had to eventually. As we walked to the room for questioning, I silently prayed that they find out that Blake's innocent.

But not all prayers get answered...

We weren't allowed to stay in the room during the questioning but because of Blake's parents, they allowed us to stay in an opposite room that separates the questioning room with a tinted glass. So we could see and hear them but they couldn't see or hear us. I watched Blake closely as the man started the interrogation.

"Tell me about your day Mr Andrews", the officer said as he pressed the recorder. Blake breathed in to get his composure before he started talking, "I woke up with my girlfriend this morning in my apartment. We decided to go shopping and then grabbed lunch afterwards. After lunch, I dropped her off at her dorm and I went to my apartment to get my gym stuff. Then I went to the gym. I was waiting for the instructor when Dylan came in. We got into a little arguement and fought a bit but then I left and went back to my apartment and that was when the officer showed up". "So you didn't at any point text Dylan to meet up with you at the gym?", The officer asked. I furrowed my brows as I watched Blake closely. He looked genuinely confused as he responded, "No I didn't. We don't even chat". "Well Mr Andrews, this says otherwise", the officer said pulling out something from a plastic zipper bag. I leaned in closer to see that it was Blake's phone. The officer showed him the phone and immediately he read what was on the screen his eyes widened, "I didn't send that". "But it's from your phone", the officer said. "Yeah but I didn't send it!", Blake said, voice slightly raising. I looked around confusedly. Sam covered her mouth as Tyler held her. Blake's mum looked very worried while his dad watched expressionlessly.

"Okay if at all you didn't send it. Who did?", The officer asked. "I..I don't know. I was with my phone all day!", Blake said as his eyes started to go dark. "You and Dylan fought yes?", The officer asked. Blake looked taken aback by the change in topic but he sighed and answered, "Yes we did. We had an argument. He said stuff about my girlfriend that I didn't like". Tears welled up in my eyes at how shaky his voice was. "So you threw the first punch", the officer continued. Blake nodded. "What happened after that?".

"We kept punching each other and then I stopped", Blake said as he glanced around quickly as if searching for someone then his eyes stopped at the glass, looking straight at me. I knew he couldn't see me but I still mouthed, "I love you". "His blood was found on your clothes, Mr Andrews", the officer said looking straight at Blake. "Cause I broke his nose at the first punch!", Blake said, starting to get riled up again. "So you decide to leave him there unconscious? Probably dead?", The officer asked, obviously trying to toy with him. I frowned at this and immediately looked at Blake's dad who shook his head at me. "He wasn't unconscious when I left. He was okay! Just some bruises here and there just like me. He was fine!", Blake's voice rang. "I'm sorry Mr Andrews but we're going to have to keep you with us. I suggest you get a lawyer and fast. The Carters aren't letting this slide", the officer said as he stood up and left. I ran out of the room and ran in to meet Blake. He hurriedly hugged me like he urgently needed it, "I didn't do it. I didn't do it". He kept repeating it as officers pulled him off me and pushed him away into the cell. Sam and I wept uncontrollably. Mr Andrews held my shoulder, "Don't worry Rue. I'll call the lawyer tonight. First thing tomorrow morning, we'll be here. Don't think about it too much. He'll be fine". I nodded as I cleaned my eyes. He comforted Sam as well as we walked out into the reception. Everyone ran up to us. Jace immediately asked, "What did they say?". Sam and I were in no place to talk so Tyler did the talking, "They said he has to stay and that we need a lawyer fast". Everyone gasped as Sam continued crying.

I sat numbly in the car thinking about the interview. Someone sent the message to Dylan to meet up at the gym but Blake says it wasn't him so who was it? Something fishy is going on here and I'm going to get to the bottom of this. My boyfriend isn't going to jail. I won't allow it, I thought as I held the pebble necklace in my hand.
