RUE'S POV"So prom is coming up!", Sam squealed excitedly as she sat beside me on the lunch table. "Not our prom, sis", Jace said as he ate his chips. "Does it mean I'm not going to prom with Ty?", Sam sulked. "You want to go to prom with a bunch of seniors you don't know or talk to?", I asked looking at her sideways. "I'd have Ty, Jack and Blake there. I can talk to them", she replied. "Let the boys have their fun. It's their one and only prom", Jess said. Sam rested her head on the table grumbling, "Fine".
"I'm glad exams are over. I thought I was going to have to die first before it ends", Miranda said as we strolled to the dorm. I laughed putting a strand of my hair behind me, "I can't wait for summer!". "Same!", Miranda cheered. Suddenly, someone's arm wrapped around Miranda's shoulders. We both turned to a dark, tall and very hot guy. "Bryan! Don't scare me like that", Miranda whined as she hit his chest. He laughed before pulling her close, "I'm sorry babe". Then he turned to me, "Hey I'm Bryan" he extended his hand towards me. I took it and smiled, "I'm Rue". "Who doesn't know that?", He laughed. We laughed as well. "Well I have to borrow my girlfriend. Would you be okay?", He asked with a charming smile. "Sure. You can whisk her away!", I said dramatically. He smiled and started pulling Miranda away. She turned back to look at me and I mouthed, "Damn!".
"He's a semi god I tell you!", I said as I walked around the room. "Fucking hot!", I exclaimed as Sam and Jess laughed at me. "Why haven't I met gorgeous before?", I asked in exasperation. "He helped out in your search though", Jess chipped in. "Oh I see", I smiled. "Gosh he's damn!", I exclaimed.
"Who's damn", I heard Blake's voice. I turned around to see he and Tyler entering the room. "Rue's talking about Mi...", Sam started to say but I had to save me life, "The guy in Warrior Nun! He's damn!". Blake and Tyler looked at me in confusion while Sam and Jess snickered. "Warrior Nun?", Tyler asked. "Yeah. The guy in it. He's tall, dark and very hot", I smiled too widely. Blake rose his brows as he walked silently to my bed and laid on it. I laid beside him while Sam, Jess and Tyler got into a conversation about Warrior Nun, well it was more like Sam and Jess forcing him to watch it.
I turned to face Blake, "Hey about that". He smiled and smoothened my hair, "I'm okay with you swooning over guys in series". I rose my brows, "And why is that?". He smiled and said, "Because I know they don't have a chance. I'm dating you, all they do is entertain you". I laughed as I hit his chest. "You're impossible", I said.
"Let's go out! I feel like doing something fun", Blake said. "When?!", Sam squealed. "Tomorrow", Tyler said. We rose our brows at them, "But it's your prom", I said. "Yeah but you don't want to go and we don't want to go if you guys won't come", Tyler. "No no no. You guys are going for your prom", Sam said. "But...", Blake started. "No buts! This is your first and last. There's no way you're missing it", I immediately said. "Plus they're doing a memorial for Dylan. I don't think you should miss it", Jess added. The guys groaned and fell on their backs. "Dude", Blake said. "Yeah bro", Tyler replied. "What you say we break up with this women?", Blake said. Our heads followed them as they spoke. "I second that bro", Tyler said. "Alright we...", Blake started. "Shut up!", Sam and I screamed as we hit their faces with pillows.
The guys and I decided to go over to the apartment to help the guys get ready or in actual words, to frustrate them till they run out of the house. "Rue I don't think..." "Ahhh I told you I know what I'm doing", I said as I tangled and retangled and detangled. "It's honestly fine, I can just...." "Blaaakkeee let me go concentrate!", I said as I knotted the tie. When I was done, I stood and looked at it and trust me, I've seen a knotted tie before and this doesn't look anything like it. "It looks like a Christmas bow gone wrong", Jace laughed. I glared at him as Jess pushed me aside, "Step aside people! Let me show you how this is done". Everyone watched her before our attention was cut off by yellings.
We look to the side as Tyler ran into the living room, Sam right behind him with a straightener in her hand. "Someone please talk some sense into her!", Tyler cried as he ran around the living room. Sam followed close behind him, "Oh come on Ty. Just try a new look for your prom. I promise you you'll look good with straight hair. I've dreamt about it before" she smiled sweetly. "I thought you liked my curly hair", he said as he moved around us. "Yes but I like you with any type of hair", Sam said also going around us. "Blake talk to your sister!", Tyler screamed. Blake just laughed, "Sorry bro but I'm not getting involved in this", he said as he admired the tie Jess knotted.
"What's going on?", Jack's voice boomed through the room. We all turned to look at him. "We should be asking you that question dude. What's going on?", Tyler asked. "What do you mean?", Jack asked as he walked into the living room and sat on the couch. "WHY AREN'T YOU DRESSED??", everyone yelled. He immediately flew out of the couch in fear, "Dre..dress..dressed? For what?". "It's your goddamn prom bro!", Jace said as he smacked his head. Everyone sighed and shook their heads at him.
After the guys left, we laid on the couch and watched series. I decided to take a stroll and get ice-cream for everyone. I entered the parlor and was about to order when I look to the side and caught a glimpse of a familiar blondie, sitting all by herself. I walked up to her table and sat down. "Go away", she mumbled. "Shouldn't you be at your prom?", I asked quietly. "I don't want to", she said as she looked away. "You don't exactly strike me as the no party girl. If anything, I'd have bet you'd be prom queen", I snickered. She only stared at me before looking down.
I stretched forward and held her hands, "Mabel what's wrong?". She removed her hands, "Does it look like something's wrong with me?". I looked at her sadly, she had dropped in weight and she looked really frail and sad. "Mabel I understand how you feel..", I started to say. "I'm sorry Rue. I'm sorry for everything", she said, tears in her eyes. I nodded and wiped her tears, "It's fine. It's okay". She looked at me, "I can't go for the memorial Rue. I just can't. It's like... it's like". "I get it. You don't have to. Take your time, you need time to grieve and that's okay", I said as I stood and sat beside her, rubbing my head. "I really loved him. He mightve been violent but we sorted it out and he said he'd change", she continued sobbing. "I'm sorry", I whispered. "He'll forever be in your heart Mabel. Trust me. Later on, you'll find someone who'll love entirely but right now, it's alright to love and grieve him", I said. She nodded and hugged me, "Thank you so much. Blake's lucky to have you and you're lucky to have him too". I smiled and hugged her back tightly.
We talked for a while and I decided to walk her to her room. On the way, we met Blake, Jack and Tyler. "Are you guys seeing what I'm seeing?", Tyler asked. "I thought it was just me", Jack mumbled. I smiled at them and turned to Mabel. We started laughing. The guys were still confused. "Let me leave you here. My room's just a block away. Goodnight Rue", Mabel said as she hugged me. She waved at the guys and left.
"Did Mabel just hug Rue?", Jack said still looking stunned. "Miracles do happen", Tyler smiled. "Oh shut up", I said to them as I put Blake's arm around me. He smiled at me and I smiled back. Together we walked back to the apartment. When we got to the door, I froze. Blake turned to me, "What's wrong?"
"Shit shit shit", I mumbled
"What?", Tyler asked.
"I forgot the ice-cream!"
