"We've gone through how you're going to answer okay? I don't know the kind of question James has in mind so you have to be cautious. Try to know where he's coming from and where he's heading to, alright?", Flynn said to Skylar and I. We nodded and I looked at Skylar sympathetically. The only reason he's involved in this is just cause he met Blake at the gym. "I interviewed Mabel earlier. She doesn't seem like she's harmful but she definitely has motives so I'll still be investigating on her account", Flynn said to us as we sat around the table. I looked over at Jess who smiled sadly as she held Jace's hand. This entire thing is taking a toll on us all. We've been attending classes and coming to Flynn's office after school to see if we could help with something. Tomorrow's the second day in court and I'm not nervous because I know that Blake didn't do it so I'm not going there to lie. A lot of people have been pressuring us everywhere, from the ice-cream parlor to our dorm. Sam and I had to move to Blake's apartment for the meantime. Jess and Miranda are less susceptible to the media but they're still staying close to Jace and Bryan, Miranda's boyfriend. Someone broke into our room in the middle of the night to ask us questions and ever since then, it's been hell. The school board has warned the students not to get in our way or make us feel uncomfortable but there are still a few group of people who send Sam and I threat notes calling us "Murderer's sister and girlfriend". Someone even wrote "Birds of the same feather flock together" on our table. But at the same time, majority of the school is on our side. They've been nice and really kind. Some send us gifts and stuff. It's just a really confusing time.I woke up this morning on Blake's bed and the loneliness engulfed me. I look around and remember the times I had spent in this room with Blake. I shook the thoughts out of my head and get ready for court day. I wore a simple black jeans and ginger brown top with black sandals. Tyler drove Sam and I to the court house where we were again ambushed by a lot of paparazzi. I got inside and met Skylar with Flynn. Sam and Tyler went to sit with Mr and Mrs Andrews. Skylar and I sat beside each other as officers brought Blake into the court house. Our eyes meet for a minute before he looked away. My hand immediately moved to the necklace he gave me. I almost felt a tear drop when Skylar held my hand tightly, "It's alright", he whispered. I nodded to him before I felt someone grab my shoulder. I turned around to see Lizzy, the girl from the restaurant. "Rue, come with me. Come on!", She said in a haste pulling my hand. "What happened?", I asked. "The guy with the face cap. I saw him. The exact face cap!", She said pulling me towards the back. She pointed at a guy with a black face cap on. I immediately called out to him but immediately he saw me, he stood up and started running out. "Hey!", I yelled as I ran after him. He ran outside and I followed but immediately I got to the gate of the paparazzi, he had disappeared into the crowd. I breathed heavily as footsteps pounded behind me. I turned to Skylar, Tyler, Sam and Lizzy and shook my head, "He's gone. The guy with the face cap and the dirty blonde hair. He's gone".
"I call Ms Lizzy Smith to the stand". Lizzy walked up to the stand and took her oath before Flynn stood up, nodding to Blake and walked over to the stand. "Ms Smith, you work at the restaurant Mr Andrews and Ms Evans went to the day of the murder yes?", Flynn asked. "Yes, I was on duty the afternoon they came", Lizzy said. "Could you kindly tell the court what happened that day?". "I saw Blake and Rue walk in and like every teenager in my school, I took pictures and sent them to my friends tagging them as couple goals. When they were about to leave, I saw a guy with a face cap brush Blake roughly by his side and he took his phone out of his back pocket. When Blake and Rue left, he came back and dropped the phone on the table", Lizzy said sounding very confident. "Did you see the guy again?", Flynn asked. "No. After that, he just disappeared", Lizzy said. "No more questions your honour", Flynn said, walking back to his seat. James stood and walked swiftly to the stand, "Ms Smith, you say you were on duty on that day right?". "Yes I was", Lizzy said, starting to look wary. "So you mean to tell me, that while you were working, you still had the time to watch them", James asked. "There weren't a lot of people that day and we're 3 on duty together so I was the one in charge of the corner that Blake and Rue were on", Lizzy said, clearly starting to get irritated by James. "You also said you saw someone pull out Blake's phone and walk away with it?", James asked. "Yes, I said so", Lizzy said. "And you saw when he came back to drop the phone on the table", James added. "Yes, about 2 minutes later", Lizzy said. "And then he just disappears", James said. Lizzy nodded with a flat look on her face. "How many entrances does the restaurant have?", James asked. Lizzy looked at him in the eye and said, "There are two of them but only one is available for non-staff". "So how is it possible that he got away without you seeing him?", James asked. "Well immediately Blake and Rue came back, I was more concerned about telling them what I saw than looking for a guy with a face cap so I didn't see him", Lizzy said pointedly. "So what you're trying to tell the court is that this phone thief stole Blake's phone to text Dylan", James said smirking. Lizzy bent forward, "No. I'm not telling the court anything. I'm only here to bear witness of what happened in the restaurant. Period". The smirk fell off James face as he turned to the judge, "No more questions". I smiled as Lizzy came down from the stand and nodded at me as she walked to the back.
