The tiny hairs on the back of my neck and arms instantly shot up as a result of my nerve ending shooting all over the place. I quickly turn to my tipsy friend. "He's here!"
"Who?" she asks obliviously to my erratic behavior as she recovers from her embarrassment.
"Adonis, girl!" She swiftly perks up and starts looking around the club feverishly. I nudge her to stop before turning away from the bar back to those intense eyes staring at me. Taking a deep breath, I kick my feet into gear and begin walking towards him before being halted by a dainty hand around my wrist. I turn to see Gabi wearing a confused expression.
"What?"
"Um, what do you think you're doing?" she asks letting my hand go. Eyeing her dumbfoundedly, I politely answer her question.
"I'm going to introduce myself, Gabi."
Without a trace of what I was going to say, I returned to my journey across the club. As I willed myself to put one foot in front of the other, I noticed Adonis's eyes bulge a little before immediately bringing them back to normal. Maybe he was surprised by my will to approach him first, but I get the idea that women come up to him all the time.
I've never been one to shy away from something that I wanted. Not that I particularly wanted him, but I wouldn't mind a conversation. Gabi had always told me that she admired my courage and confidence. My mom always taught me that life was too short, so don't sit around on your ass waiting for something to come to you. You have to go out and get it.
Nearing the booth, I had yet to figure out what I was going to say and next thing I knew I was standing right in front of him. My stomach was flipping inside out as he sat there in front of me. He then cocked an eyebrow as his eyes shamelessly wandered down my body.
"So what? You were just going to stare from across the club all night?" I blurt out interrupting his wandering eyes as they shot back up to mine. He was sitting with two other men; the one with a bald head looked to be about the same age as him and the other about my age, maybe a little older, wore a low top fade with curly hair. The curly-haired one seems to resemble Mr. Adonis a little around the jawline.
"Silas. And you are?" he speaks! And there it is, that baritone voice with a hint of raspiness that sends my neurons firing.
"Wondering if you're going to answer my question," I state shifting my weight onto my right side. I hear the curly-haired one snicker a little before feigning nonchalance. Silas lets out a soft chuckle before standing and making his way around in front of me.
"I apologize for staring. How about I buy you a drink to make up for it?" He reaches out his hand for me to take, but I don't because I was distracted by his scent. We aren't that close, but I could smell his cologne from here and he smells as delicious as he looks. A subtle mixture of cinnamon and citrus; sweet and spicy.
Suddenly remembering where I was, I side-stepped him and began walking towards the bar. "You can buy me a drink, but I can walk on my own." I glance back and deliver him a flirtatious smile eyeing that tantalizing smirk on his face.
At the bar sat Gabi and Devin both eyeing the man behind me curiously. I turned to face Silas as I stood between my two friends.
"Silas, this is Gabi and Devin, my best friends" I introduce, pointing to each as I said their names. "And guys this is Silas or should I say Mr.Wilson, one of the new investors at my job."
"It's Silas, please," he addressed my friends then directed his attention back to me, "though I wouldn't mind you calling me Mr. Wilson" he states with a smug grin. Oh, he knows the effect he's having on me. My cheeks flushed red in an instant at his declaration and I was speechless. By now, the two men he was sitting with were coming over. Shaking away my shock, I remembered why we came to the bar in the first place.
"I'll have a margarita," I say to him ignoring his remark as I sit on the stool between my two friends.
"And the two of you, anything?" he asks Devin and Gabi. Devin shook his head but Gabi told him that she would have another daiquiri. As he went to the bartender to get the drinks along with the other men, Gabi hit my arm demanding my attention to her.
"Girl, you were right. He is fine," she said drawing out the last word. I can't help but laugh at my enthusiastic friend as I turn to Devin who remains unimpressed.
"Cocky if you ask me" he shrugs and pulls out his phone.
"Oh Devin play nice, it's nothing serious" I tease, watching the men grab our drinks from the bartender to ensure they were safe.
"One daiquiri, one margarita," Silas says handing us our drinks. "How about we go to our table in the back?" Devin scoffs and I hit his leg with my knee.
"Sure," I say taking up Gabi's free hand and motioning Devin with my head as I make my way to the booth.
"So are you going to introduce us to your friends or not?" I hear Gabi say as we all sit at the round booth. Gabi intentionally left the space beside me open as she sat down near Devin. Sitting beside me, I felt his presence before I even acknowledged him. I wonder what it was that was making my body draw to him, maybe he had this effect on all women. I was lost in thought until I heard that voice that instantly made me alert.
"Yes, this is Kyle, my brother" he motioned towards the curly hair one "and this is Alex, one of my closest friends."
"I'm Gabrielle and this is Devin," she says between the both of them before directing her eyes at Kyle and smiling.
"Do I get the pleasure of knowing your name now?" he asks leaning closer to me. His breath tickled my ear sending shivers down my body causing me to shift in my seat. I downed the margarita preparing myself for what I was about to do. I stood up and scooted past him and held out my hand for him to take it.
"Where are we going?" he asked confused by my sudden movements.
"To dance," I said grabbing his hand with a smirk. Electricity shot through my body at the feel of his skin on mine and as I looked into those dark brown pools, I think he felt it too.
Soon as we got lost in the crowd, he swung me around to face him and placed his large hands on the small of my back. My hands landed on his firm chest. My nipples hardening at the feeling of his hands on my body. I'm sure he could feel them against his chest as we swayed and flowed with the music. I was hit with the mesmerizing scent of his body and the alcohol was doing nothing for my hormones.
"It's Ariah," I breathed out; my words laced in seduction. He looked down at me confused for a second then realized what I was talking about.
"It's beautiful, much like you in that department." I rolled my eyes at his cliche ass response but thanked him never-the-less. He turned me around and I let my body grind against him. His hands placed around my waist guiding my every movement. Feeling his semi-erection on my backside did nothing for the raging flutters happening between my legs. Turning to face him, I let my hands travel up his chest and around his neck as he roamed up my back.
He looked back and forth between my eyes and my lips suggestively. I wanted him to do it, don't ask me, don't tell me, just do it. I parted my lips slightly and that was all it took for him to ravish my mouth hungrily. Only seconds into it, and I was already melting into his hands. He pulled me closer to his hard body and pushed his tongue into my mouth tasting the rest of me. I have never been kissed so intensely in my life. I realized that I did want this. He broke away for only to catch his breath and my breath hitched as we looked at each other.
"Let's go."
