"... I mean just flat out said "I think you should leave." What type of BS is that? No explanation or anything. Not that he's obligated to give me one, but still my point stands." Swerving through the early Tuesday morning traffic, I explained my eventless weekend to Devin.

"Maybe it was for the best. You didn't even know the dude Ari."

"For the best? He basically left me with the female version of blue balls! And to your other point, that's the point of a one-night-stand. I had no intention of getting to know him. You know I'm not looking for a relationship. Not after-." I shook the thought out my head as I parked my car outside of the office building.

"Yea, I know. Hey, I'm going to have to call you later; I have a customer."

I heard the jingle of the doorbell in the background signaling someone entering Devin's tattoo shop. Since high school, Devin has always been an amazing artist, but he never thought of doing tattoos until I brought it up to him. A few years after working for a local tattoo parlor, he saved up enough to open his own here in Georgia. I couldn't be more proud.

"Okay, bye." Ending the call, I made my way through the lobby to my designated floor. As I sat at my desk sifting through emails, Johnathan trudged over and sat on the edge of the desk beaming at me.

"Well good morning to you too, little miss sunshine," I teased making him fill the floor with cheery laughter.

"Morning, what do you have planned for today? I have a date tonight and I want you to come shopping with me after work."

"Besides being here, I have an appointment with a client at ten. Sure, I'd love to come. Is it anyone special?" He smiled as he stood from my desk and sashayed back to his.

"Hope so."

Arriving at the Children's Recreation Center, I wandered around observing all the colorful decorations and paintings on the walls until I found someone who appeared to work here.

"Excuse me, I'm Ariah Miller, I have an appointment with Director Shaw." A caramel-toned woman, maybe a shade darker than me, turned to greet me with a bright smile on her face.

"Oh yes, Director Shaw's office is right this way." I followed her to the office door as she knocked twice then proceeded to open it. What was the point in knocking if you were just going to go in anyway? I thought to myself.

"Ariah Miller from Imperf Technologies."

After drafting up some sketches with Director Shaw for the promotional material, I headed back to work. On my way out of the Rec Center, Director Shaw invited me to come to the fundraiser next Sunday. He was sure to mention that there would be food and I was sold.

As the elevator door opened, I overheard Sarah, the third-floor receptionist, tell someone "I'm sorry sir, but she isn't in right-" Her eyes drifting to me then back to the man standing before her. I could only see his back, but from his broad shoulders and muscular arms, I knew who it was.

Silas turned and faced me as I sauntered out of the elevator and to my desk. With him in tow, I sat down and begin filling in my calendar with due dates and events to come. Standing in front of my desk like the Adonis he is, I could smell the lovely concoction of cinnamon and citrus. I inhaled a little but not nearly enough.

"So, you're really going to sit there and ignore me?" His low-pitched words sent chills down my spine. Why does he have this effect on me?

"How can I help you, Mr. Wilson?" I finally say, daring not to look up from my computer screen.
