"Sir, your daughter is waking up."

Aizawa bolted out of his thin, dreamless sleep. It had been a long stretch of days he had spent sitting in the most uncomfortable hospital chair known to mankind and falling asleep in it had not been easy. It hadn't helped that you were there, as well, completely unconscious with very little chance of waking up. Understandably, this did not allow your mentor the simple charm of easy rest.

The nurse next to your bed shot a sympathetic look at him. "I'll leave you two some time alone. Please sound the bedside alarm if you need anything."

Technically, technically Aizawa had lied to the poor woman. When he arrived at the hospital after hearing that you had been airlifted from I-Island after sustaining multiple injuries and were currently unconscious, he had found that quite a few of your friends–also known as his own students–had already tried and failed to go in and see you. He had run into them just outside the building, where they had explained to him that the doctors were only allowing family into the room.

So yeah, Aizawa may have told the doctors he was your father. Based on what little you'd told him of your actual parents, they traveled too much to even have a chance of getting there as quickly as he could, so he figured he'd have a little time.

That had been four days ago, and there was still no sign of your actual parents. He had even gone so far as to try and call them with their numbers listed in the official UA files, but after leaving multiple messages, he stopped trying.

But he didn't stop waiting for you to wake up.

Aizawa was a shitty sleeper at the best of times, but not even the emotional exhaustion of seeing his favorite (although he'd never admit that) student unconscious in a hospital bed because she had been electrocuted was enough to get him to fall asleep. If anything, it had just made it more difficult. Fucking I-Island and their so-called incredible security.

"Dad?"

Your eyes fluttered open ever so slightly as you took in your surroundings. Aizawa instantly shot to the side of the bed and you looked at him with fuzzy confusion.

"I thought they said my dad was here," you mumbled. "But this is better."

Although he would never have admitted it, even in a life or death situation, Aizawa felt a certain warmth in his heart when you said it. It was perhaps a mix of the sheer relief he felt at the fact that you were actually alive and the probability that since you were just coming back to consciousness, your words were as honest as they come. You really did want him here.

I can't believe I basically went and adopted a child, he mentally facepalmed.

Now you were awake, really awake, and were taking in your surroundings. You shot up, as though frightened, and looked around wildly until Aizawa placed a comforting hand on your shoulder.

"(L/n), you're alright. You're in the hospital. You're safe."

Your breath shook, but you focused and calmed it, gripping onto your mentor's jacket like a lifeline. "Aizawa? What... What happened?"

"You were attacked," he said grimly. "There was a villain attack during the party at I-Island. As far as I know, Todoroki was the last person to see you. He told the police he pushed you out of the way of an attack and then when he turned around, you were gone. They found you unconscious by the elevator doors after the threat to the building was neutralized. No one knows how you got there. Now... what's the last thing you remember?"

"The last thing I remember.." you trailed off. "Is running up an ungodly amount of stairs. And then I think there were flowers, but it's all so fuzzy."

Aizawa frowned. He knew memory loss was a common side effect of a traumatic experience, but the fact that you couldn't remember anything significant, not even seeing the villains arrive out of the elevator (which your friends had confirmed you were awake for), was concerning.
