Last Day

I had a bad day and I'm gonna write to get away from it :)

"Sei chan..." Bokuto looked at her in defeat. "Sumimasen"

She looked at his shattered spirits after losing to Itachiyama in the semi finals.

"Don't worry" she placed her hand on his shoulder and he already felt 12 times better "it's only the beginning"

"It's the last day tomorrow. The finals..." his eyes widened "Sei chan, you must win this one for us!"

"Niiyama is strong" she mumbled "Kanoka san makes them stronger"

She had a restless night. Not because there was finals but with the look on Bokuto's face. He was a sore loser and the small face he made troubled her nerves even more.

The very next day when the girls walked towards the court-

"Seikan!" The coach said "Bench"

Her eyes widened.

"We need someone with the perfect jump float serve" he said. She swore she saw Aiko in him. There was no way she'd be on the bench again, she was a bad sportsman like that.

"But Sensei, Seikan's jump float serve is..."

"Get moving"

Seikan sat on the bench with her head down. It was embarrassing, it was even worse than what happened at Shiratorizawa because now Bokuto was seeing her too.

"What's happening??" Satori peeped from the balcony "Why is she on the bench?"

"SEIII CHAANN????" Bokuto was losing it "IS THE COACH CRAZY?!?" Akaashi and the others had to pin him down from attacking the coach "My precious baby, she must be so upset!!" He pouted.

"Their middle blocker jumps before the toss sometimes. She guess blocks" the coach said.

She sat with the coach as he mumbled incoherent things and her eyes began to burn with how mad she was at the new arrangement. She saw Fukurodani's scores tumble but by but until their team lost all hopes by the middle of their second set.

She was going to quit volleyball right after. Maybe even Fukurodani if Bokuto fails to convince her with all his life.

"Seikan..." the coach said "Substitute Yuan when she's up for serve next"

Her mind went on a quick rewind, she remembered all that the coach rambled. Their weaknesses.

"Did you think I was rambling??" He asked and she shook her head "No"

"Then go" he said "Do your part"

He knew he was sending the Anubis into the game, at the right time. That's when she irked the opponents the best.

"We're gonna lose" Akaashi said pointing at the score board.

"NOPE!" Bokuto smiled "WE'RE GONNA WIN!"

He held his breath as she played. When Fukurodani took back the second set, Bokuto had legit stars in his eyes "That's my girlfriend" he sniffled in joy.

Her lidded eyes that screamed of concentration didn't fail to pick up how scared they were. The second set had done a complete flip and she was working even better when she knew how well it worked. She internally thanked the coach for sending her in at the right time. When they thought they'd win.

She was the darkest of the clouds. The feral grey sky. And when she'd grant them the fated lupine defeat she'd-

"SEI CHAAANN!!!"

That was her divulgence. She stood taller than she did. She raised her head to look at him. For once, it wasn't to look at the ball. She looked at him and didn't feel uptight. She could tug her head back up without an excuse, only because it was Bokuto. Because if it was him, she wouldn't be judged. It was the one time she didn't worry about her eyes.

There's always the moment when the grey skies crack and there's a ray of light peering through even the darkest clouds. The immaculate sight where the golden lining on the sooty clouds parades a breathtaking landscape.

Seikan's walls finally crumbled to dust. He wasn't her antithesis. Even if they were the exact opposites, they encouraged each other to be the best version of themselves. Like a shadow, tempting the light to glow brighter while the former sombered even further in its luminosity.

Bokuto was her beacon, the one that was Lucent enough to bring her darkest side out.

"BREAK HER SERVE!"

Seikan's devil felt the tingles. She gave them a malicious smile "If you stop this serve, I'll let you win"

Her whole team froze dead in their spirits. They thought she was kidding until they saw her face. She wasn't sane anymore.

And they couldn't receive it. Seikan sighed in agony "If only you did..." she almost pouted "I thought that was a good enough offer"

The crowd had goosebumps. The barely filled seats were full to the brim by the time Fukurodani took the third set and won the game.

"SEIII CH-"

"Arigato" she thanked him. She knew she was bad at smiling but that didn't stop her. If she really was that bad, she knew Bokuto would teach her. She thanked him for all that he did for and to her.

"But I didn't-"

"You did enough" she gratefully thanked him again "Arigato"

"Sei... chan..." Bokuto had a giant tide sweep his heart when he saw her smile. She might have been sunnier than Bokuto that moment and he pouted "Don't smile like that"

She stopped, feeling conscious again.

"I'd be pissed if someone else fell for you" he wrapped his arms around her. "Are you cold, babygirl?"

"A little" she meekily wisped.

"Let me take you home" he said "I'll make you the best kimchi ramen ever!"

As much as she wanted to scream in delight and tell him how awesome he was, she gave him a small nod. She watched him cook with expertise, the apron hugging his toned muscles weren't really helping her appetite.

"Don't mind me. This is one of the very few things I can cook" he guiltily admitted.

"It's okay" she said "I'll make the others for you"

"You... would??" He didn't know how to feel with the sudden changes in her behaviour towards him. As much as he loved it, he was treading on eggshells, wondering if everything was alright.

Bokuto's grandmother whipped her lips shut when she saw the two asleep on the couch. Bokuto's eyes stirred when she moved in her sleep "I'm here, princess" he cuddled her closer before his eyes fell shut again.

She smiled, leaning away from the backrest, taking out the special, pink yarn from her sewing box. She was going to knit another one of her infamous, warm sweaters. But this one... was for Seikan.
