Seikan went running to the hospital without even bothering about the time. It was early in the morning and she'd skipped both school and practice.
The ambulance had reached the hospital by the time she got there. It was chaotic out there. There were a lot of people trying to get him on the gurney and make way for him all she could manage to see was Bokuto being taken inside. His frosty tips were soaking in red, his face had scratches, his right arm was swollen but their eyes met for a brief second and when she fixated her irises onto his, it wasn't the same like it usually was. His eyes had dulled, like a dying star. Like he didn't recognise her.
"BOKUTO SAN!!" She ran behind his gurney like a blob of mercury but was stopped by the nurses right outside the OR.
She was frozen in time and place by the time Akaashi and his grandma came running.
"Where is he??" His grandmother was trembling in her feet. "Inside" Seikan could only whisper.
"What happened??"
"He tried to save a puppy" Seikan said "The driver was drunk"
"AT THIS HOUR? Who drinks at this hour before driving??" Akaashi was mad pissed.
"How did he look??" His grandma asked her.
"Not good" she mumbled. "But he'll be okay"
Seikan was assuring herself with that more than she did to anyone else. If anything happened to Bokuto she'd be completely lost in darkness. He was her only source of light, support and everything good in between. Her whole life would be nothing but a downward spiral in the most horrifying way possible. He was already too good to be true and she couldn't bear to lose him. For the first time in her life, she joined her hands and prayed to Kami to keep him safe.
Hours later the doctor stepped out of the OR and their anxiety only multiplied. "He's stable for now, but he's hurt his head pretty bad. He also has a fracture in his right arm and has a few deep wounds too"
"Will he be okay??"
"Yes. He might lose his memory considering the impact he's had." He said "But that's just a possibility"
"When will he be up?"
"In an hour or less, but please don't panic if he's not the same person he used to be" the doctor said before excusing himself and his grandma began panicking.
Seikan had to talk to her dad about skipping school that day and in the meanwhile the doctor informed the other two that he was awake and they rushed inside to see him. She barged inside as soon as she saw the two missing from their seats.
"BOKUTO S-" she stopped when she saw the two bereaved faces. Bokuto's grandma and Akaashi looked pale already.
"TARO! IT'S OBAASAN!" His grandma cupped his face only for him to uncomfortably wiggle away from her. "No, please!"
"Bokuto san..." Akaashi's efforts were in vain too.
"He doesn't remember?" Seikan felt her heart break bit by bit. Bokuto peeked from behind his grandma. His hair covered most of his forehead, it wasn't as spiky. She'd barely seen him with his hair down and her heart was now unsteady. He looked at her for a few seconds and to their surprise-
"S-Sei chan?"
"Wh-"
"You... remember her?"
"Of course I do!" Bokuto rebelled "that's my girlfriend"
Seikan couldn't believe her ears. She cautiously stepped closer to him until she reached the edge of his bed "How do you... remember me?" She slowly sat down to face him.
"How can I ever forget the most beautiful pair of eyes I'd ever seen?" He said and she wasn't having it. Seikan felt the same emotion again. The one she'd felt just twice before in her entire existence. She felt her eyes dampen and his eyes widened. She bit her lip, that was the last place she wanted to cry at. She took deep breaths but her eyes wouldn't stop filling. Her differently coloured orbs glistened with tears and her cheeks flushed in agony before she noiselessly began to weep.
Bokuto was terrified, he knew she was never one to show any emotions, let alone cry and as soon as she did he put his arms around her "Could you excuse us for a bit?" He asked his grandma and Akaashi who were still digesting the fact that he remembered Seikan.
"Baby, what's wrong?"
"You... y-you were bleeding and-"
"I'm sorry" he kissed her head "I'm so sorry"
"Are you okay? Are you hurting? Do you feel better?" She sniffled holding his face and his heart broke. He'd never seen her react so much let alone ask so many questions at once.
"I feel better now that you're here" he wiped her tears away. "I can't believe I had the privilege of seeing you cry"
"It's all because of you" she mumbled.
"I know, princess. I'm sorry" he kissed her face "I'm sorry I made you cry. I'll never let you cry again"
"I never will" she said.
"I know" he cooed "And I'll make sure you don't"
"You look like a mess" she eyed his bandages "And you hurt your dominant arm"
"Baby, I told you I'm-"
"Sorry won't fix your wounds" she scolded while gently running her fingers over the bandage around his head. "Say sorry to your Obaasan first"
"Sei... chan..." he said "is that really my Obaasan?"
"She is... she's also your favourite person" Seikan said.
"Then why do I only remember you?"
"Maybe because I have weird eyes you can remember?"
"Don't ever say that again" his voice dropped dangerously low.
"Gomen" she awkwardly shuffled in his hold "The other person who was with Obaasan... that's Akaashi Keiji. He's your best friend"
"If you say so, baby" he said. "I don't know what else to do"
"Don't worry about it. I'm right here" she gently kissed his lips "You need to rest"
"Will I see you again?" He hopefully asked "I don't know anyone else here and it's-"
"I'll be here"
"Promise?"
"I promise" she said "You should talk to Obaasan and your best friend now. They're really worried"
"Please stay, I need you with me while I talk to them"
"Okay" she assured him.
His grandma was as upset as she could get. The only thing reassuring her was the fact that he remembered Seikan and he'd eventually remember them too.
Seikan stayed with him all evening while Akaashi and his grandma went home for a bit.
"What do you remember about me?" She asked.
"From how you bumped into me in your pink wheelies to having you so sweetly say my name..." he smiled "All of it, princess"
