"S-Sei chan..." he couldn't face her after the news of his engagement reached her and she conveniently avoided him for a while until he finally decided to confront her.
"I should've known" as much as she was doing it for Obaasan it wouldn't be fair to say that she didn't hurt a little. "Achoo!"
"Aw, did you catch a cold?" Kiara walked into his office like she owned the place. Except that she didn't.
"No" Seikan pressed her hanky against her nose.
"Are you allergic? Maybe to the flowers he got me?" She smiled.
"Just to idiots" Seikan sniffled.
"You don't seem so good" Bokuto was a little worried. Ever since she walked out of his house she wasn't the same person and he damn well knew it.
"Leave me be" she retired at her station "I'll be done soon anyway"
"Y-You're leaving?"
"The painting will be done today" she looked at him from over her shoulder, her piercing gaze not failing to make him feel guiltier than he already was.
"I... I need another painting" he said knowing how futile his failed attempt already was.
"Okay" she said taking him by surprise "As long as I have the same environment"
"They're all on your terms" he assured her.
"You don't have any conditions this time?"
"I'll do anything you want me to."
"Okay" she smiled to herself knowing how well that worked.
When she finished the painting today he had nothing to say. It spoke to him in languages he never knew. That made him fall even worse.
"Sei chan..." he said, his eyes still dilating with how beautiful it was "Why are all your paintings so dark?"
"They really aren't" she had a small smile on her face "You remember how you're about to see the light after you take a big fall? You sail through the darkness and craft yourself into something extraordinary. That's one of the most underrated, unrecognised phases a person goes through and it's anything but dark"
When Bokuto only saw darkness in it, she saw the light. She was so used to seeing the light. Bokuto had always been her light and even if his luminosity had faded over time, it curated a very raucous theme for her paintings and a unique one at that. Every single time.
"So beautiful" his eyes were fixed on the painting but all his attention were on her.
"Thank you" he said "For staying even after I disappointed you so much"
"I just have another painting to finish" she flatly said, turning around to leave.
She came to a sudden halt when Bokuto held her hand "Sei chan..." His voice was barely a whisper.
"Hmm?"
"Am I ever on your mind?" His voice croaked as his heart clenched "Even for a moment?"
Seikan hated how he still had the power to melt all the walls of ice she somehow managed to build around herself for all these years.
"Yes" she tugged her head in shame.
"Do I still have a chance?"
"No"
Bokuto walked towards her, only to tug her face back up "You never listen, do you?" His eyes had the light she hadn't seen since she last saw him in school. "Don't lower your head, love" his thumb gently traced her jaw "Your eyes are the most beautiful ones I've ever seen"
She was doomed. She knew she brought the wrath upon herself by agreeing to do another painting for him. As much as she wanted to fulfil Obaasan's wishes it was eternal damnation she'd just cast upon herself. Bokuto took her by surprise when he placed a soft kiss on her cheek and his insides burned as his lips pressed against her face.
He couldn't stop himself anymore, he'd been aching to do that ever since he saw her again at the grand opening of her gallery. He showered her with kisses until she was a puddle in his arms
"No" she tried to push him away "I might have a cold"
"I don't mind getting it"
"Bokuto san!"
"Oh, how I missed you, princess" he held her in a tight embrace.
"B-Bokuto s-san" she hid her flushed face in his chest and he chuckled "Yes, angel?"
"Y-You-" she was cut off by him when he held her sides and swiftly sat her on his table. "You're so cute when you're flustered"
"Why won't you look at me?" he gently pushed her hands away from her face before cupping her cheek. "I love you" he slowly kissed her lips "I always have" he confessed before he leaned closer for another one. She tasted so much more intoxicating he couldn't breathe anymore, she hammered his heart and he gladly took every single blow. He'd never felt so weak before, not even before his father. He felt the shockwaves rock his spine when her fingers found their way to his hair.
She knew she was in too deep when she felt her back touch his table and his big daddy hands expertly peeling away every layer of her resilience. His lips skilfully moved against hers, with his torso rubbing her in all the right places, their clothes disheveled and their hearts gone wild "You're gorgeous" he finally pulled away so she could breathe, not letting his hands astray from the touch of her burning skin.
When the doors of his office knocked, it was their cue to stop. Seikan internally thanked whoever was outside for the close save and fixed her clothes.
"Wait" Bokuto extended his hands to carefully fix her hair "Perfect" he let her resume work.
Seikan took her thanks right back when she saw who walked into his office.
"Ah, my dear step brother" he had a smirk on his face that managed to trigger even Bokuto. "Has Tokyo been nice to you?"
Seikan on the other hand froze in her soles.
"Is that... your girlfriend?" He looked at Seikan and chuckled "Look at you getting all close to your girlfriend when you're already engaged"
She couldn't move even as he advanced towards her "You're rude" he teased as he leaned closer to her "Look how you treat me like a stranger"
She gulped when he extended his hand to tuck a few strands of her hair behind her ear. "Say my name, sweetheart"
"M-M-Murakami... Sensei"
