"Baby, I'm dancing in the dark with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, we're listenin' to our favorite song"
Perfect - Ed Sheeran"Oh we're just getting started..."
I feel his hands uncover my eyes and I immediately open them to see that we're on the roof. He holds his hand out for me to take, and I do so as he leads me out. There are string lights going from each end of the roof, swooped from each lamp post. There's a picnic blanket in the center that's under a white canopy tent that has pillows and blankets and a picnic basket inside. I look out to the edge of the roof to see one of the most beautiful views in Los Angeles. I look around some more, looking out into the world from the edge. It looks like something straight out of a movie. I see that Corbyn isn't by my side anymore, so I turn around to find him by the canopy, flowers in hand. I walk over to him, taking the flowers from him.
"I told you I'd make it up to you." he says with a grin. I go on my tip toes, putting my arms around his neck to give him a tight hug. I feel his arms go around my waist as he hugs me tighter, pulling me closer. I never realized how good he smells, his scent...it's home.
"How did you come up with all of this?" I ask, pulling away from the hug. He takes my hand, bringing me under the canopy as we sit on the picnic blanket.
"I had a little time." he says. A little time? Okay sure Corbyn. I laugh, still shocked. I can't stop looking around at everything. Everything is so detailed and perfect. It's honestly so beautiful. We take out our food, beginning to eat. "So how do you like it so far?" he asks, lounging back against the pile of pillows around us.
"Honestly...I was so confused." I admit. We both laugh, thinking about the confused expressions on my face earlier. "I was like...Chipotle? Office buildings? Taking my car?"
"Oh well there's a purpose for your car." he says casually. Of course there is. I guess I'll never know what goes on in that head of his. "And I don't know...I wanted to do something simple. Something laid back." he says with a shrug.
"This is simple?" I laugh. If this date is laid back, I wonder what more serious dates are like.
"Well I mean, we are eating Chipotle." he laughs, "I could've taken you to a 5 star restaurant but I figured this is better." he says. He's right. It's not just better, it's perfect.
"No no no. I'd take this over 5 star restaurants any day." I tell him.
"Good good, I'm glad." he says. I can see the relief in his face when he talks. I wonder how nervous he was for this...Maybe more nervous than me? After we finished dinner, we just relaxed in our pillow fort and talked about different topics.
He eventually showed me what was inside the picnic basket to reveal a laptop and some ice cream. I don't even know what to say anymore. What hasn't he thought of? I would tell him how cheesy this is, but I don't even have the heart to do so...It is cheesy, but it's romantic...and I love it.
"So the ice cream I get..but why the laptop?" I ask while I peek at some of the flavors he got.
"Well..." he says, opening up his laptop. He nods over to the pile of pillows next to him for me to sit next to him. I do so and sit close to him, trying to get a good view of the screen. "We both know the internet knows who Corbyn Besson is, but what about Lara Carpenter? There's gotta be something about you on here..." he says in a fancy accent. I can't help but laugh, but I am a little nervous. He pulls up my Instagram, but it's not like he hasn't already seen that. But then there's something he finds on YouTube.
