CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

MONSERRAT

I was now on my way to the fast food chain where Sage works. I parked the car and get off the vehicle. Tanaw ko na agad si Sage na kumukuha ng nga orders. As usual, marami na naman ang nakapila. This store doesn't run out of customers.

Pumasok ako sa loob. Sage looked upon my direction as soon as I entered the shop.

I smiled to her and walk towards the long line. Kung noon dumidiretso na ako kaagad sa aking lamesa, ngayon ay hindi na. I suddenly realized that I shouldn't use my name just to eat in this kind of place. Pare-pareho lang naman kaming gustong kumain dito. Others may thought that they're treating me too nice because I'm a VIP even though I'm not.

Sage frowned at me. Nagtagal ang tingin niya sakin pero kaagad ring nawala nang magsalita na ang customer. She gave her the list of her order.

Isang staff naman ang lumapit sa akin."Sir, pwede na po kayong dumiretso sa table niyo." Anito. I immediately shooked my head.

"Hindi na. Pipila na ako. The next time I come here, please don't treat me like special guest anymore. I will just order normally." The staff gave me a confused look but she just nodded her head and smile before going back to the kitchen.

Sage glance at me pero nang mapatingin ako sa kanya ay kaagad ring dumako ang tingin sa notebook. She write some orders again and gave it to the old woman.

"Kagandang bata." Dahil malapit lang naman ay narinig ko ang sinabi ng matanda. Sage smiled happily from what she heard.

My heart skipped a beat. Did she just smile? For real? I mean, she can smile but not totally...

Natulala akong tumitig kay Sage. She took the order of the person in front of me. She write down the orders at binigay ito sa lalaki.

I move forward. Sage met my eyes. This is the first time I see her closely in this uniform. I look at her nameplate that says 'Sage'.

"Can I have your order, Sir?" Ilang segundo ko muna siyang tinitigan. She looks so good in this uniform. Parang biglang hindi ko siya kilala. She looked at me directly in my eyes.

I smirked. That's how you look at people woman. "One sphagetti, one regular burger, one large fries, and one iced tea." Sagot ko. Sage write the orders down and gave me a glance in the middle of her writing. I saw her lips twirked.

"Uh, don't you like to try our other foods, Sir? We have chickens, burger steaks, and lumpiang shanghai." She looked at me once again.

"You're doing a pretty great job." Sabi ko. She blinked but she didn't gave me any reaction.

I cleared my throat when I realized that she won't actually talk to me because she's in the middle of a work. Ang strict talaga nito.

"I'll repeat Sir, one sphagetti, one regular burger, one large fries, one iced tea." I nodded.

Pinunit niya ang papel at ibinigay sakin. I took the paper as she gave me a glance before going to the next person.

I successfully received my order from my usual spot. Hindi na sana ako doon uupo pero nireserved pa rin sa akin ng mga staff ang table kaya wala na akong nagawa. I will tell them next time to let me choose my own seat depends on the availability.

I silently eat my food as I glance at Sage who's now cleaning a table. Something about her changed. I don't remember her being so professional. I mean, she's passionate, but she's still amateur.

Seeing her doing a great job now makes me wonder if she's really the Sage that I know.

"Miss eto pa." A woman pointed an empty cup to Sage. She immediately took the cup without saying anything or without sighing frustratingly.
