When Playboy Meets The Odd

CHAPTER FORTY-THREE

MONSERRAT

"How's your work?" Peso asked me and gave me a vodka martini. We are now here in Lazarus' bar. It's been a week since I started working in our company.

"Hectic." I said and take a sip. "Ang daming iniwan na trabaho ni Dad."

Pero laughed at me. "Iniwan talaga sayo ng Dad mo ang iba niyang task ha? Maybe he trusts you too much."

Lazarus entered the counter. He speak to one of his friend at our far right.

"The incident was still shocking. Is Sage still not home?" Peso asked. I shooked my head as a response. "When will she come home, then?"

Kumunot ang noo ko. I don't know actually. It's been a week since I called her. She's not answering the phone right now.

"Hindi ba siya uuwi? How about her degree?" Bumuntong hininga ako.

"She will come home." I said with confidence. Hindi man ngayon pero alam kong uuwi siya.

Peso looked at me worried. "I hope so." He said.

Manang Tasya greeted me as soon as I entered our house. Inalok niya ako ng dinner. Mom and Dad isn't home. They're still on a private meeting with other business partners.

"I'm okay, Manang." I said and walk straight to my room.

"Lasing ka ba?" Tanong niya. I didn't answer her. Pumasok ako sa aking kuwarto at hinayaan niya naman ako.

I closed the door. I am not drunk but my head is aching.

I took my ties and shoes off and jump on my bed.

"Your bed feels so comfortable."

"Isn't it because I'm by your side?"

"Probably."

"Should we get married?"

"Gusto mo na kong itali even though I am still not in college? You're selfish!"

"You can still attend school even though we're married. Hindi naman kita papatigilin. Pag-aaralin pa kita."

"I love you, but I will decline your proposal. Sorry."

"Why? Isn't love all that matters?"

"That's so cringeworthy. It doesn't suits you."

"Bakit ayaw mong pakasal tayo?"

"Uhm... I want to pursue my dreams first."

"What is your dream?"

"To be a college graduate."

"Ang simple naman. I'll wait for you then."

"I don't think you'll be able to wait for me."

"What do you mean?"

"I want to be a Psychiatrist."

Nagising ako sa tumunog na alarm. It's already 7 a.m. I am so late for work.

Bumangon ako at naglinis ng katawan. I went outside my room to have some breakfast when Manang suddenly ran towards me.

"Monsy, nandyan si Sage." Manang said.

Without further ado, I ran to to the living room. Bumungad sa akin si Mom at Dad na magkatabing nakaupo. On the other sofa, in front, is Sage in a light blue dress with a juice in her hand looking good as ever.

Seryoso akong tinignan ni Mom. Dad looked at me with a smile. Even Sage who don't smile to people is smiling to me.

"Hi." Sage greeted me. "I'm back." She proudly said.
