CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN

MONSERRAT

Sage and I never talked again. Lumipas ang isang araw at tahimik pa ring nakaratay si Mommy sa ICU. Pinaglatuloy ko ang naiwan kong trabaho. I know Mom won't be too ease if I left the company like this.

I'll just finish whatever I need to do and go back to the hospital.

I looked at the clock. It's already 9 in the morning. I've already spent three hours in this office and I can't still focus.

Hinilot ko ang sentido ko. I finished studying the reports and sign whatever I need to sign.

Ibinaba ko ang kakapasa lang na report. That's it. I'm done. I will have a few minutes break.

I leaned on my swiveled chair and look at the ceiling. I can't belive I am getting tired already. How can I lead this company in a competent way if I'm like this?

Pumikit ako at pilit na nagpahinga. I tried to forget what's happening right now but I failed to do it. Mas lalo ko lang naiisip.

My phone rang. Kinuha ko iyon. Dad is calling me.

"Hello–"

"Monsy, you're Mom is awake!" He said.

I immediately rise from my seat. I took my suit and immediately ran to the parking lot.

I went to my car and drove to the hospital. I even forgot that Dad is still on the phone.

"I'm on my way Dad. You can end this call." I said while trying to focus on the road.

Bumaba ako nang sasakyan nang nasa ospital na. I ran towards the ICU when a nurse suddenly stopped me.

"Ah, Mr. Luces, you're Mom is already in a private suit." Aniya. I stopped running and looked at her. "This way po." Saad niya at kaagad na iginiya ako sa kuwarto kung naasan si Mommy.

The nurse opened the door. Bumungad sa akin si Daddy at Sage. Mom looked at me as soon I step on the room.

"Monsy!" Dad offered his seat. I immediately went to her and hold her left hand. Sage is also holding her right hand.

"How are you Mom?" She looked at me smiling. There were tubes in her nose.

"I am fine." Sagot niya. "How's the company?" Aniya.

"The company is fine, don't think about it." I said. Ayoko siya mastress. There's si much going on in the company now that she's here.

Dumako ang tingin ko kay Sage. She' just looking at my Mom like she can't believe that she's awake.

"The Doctor that she needs to be in this hospital for a while." Dad said. Mom looked at him.

"Bakit hindi ka na muna bumalik sa company, hon?" Mom insists.

Dad frowned at her. "I don't think I can do that. Let me just be with you for awhile."

Mom smirked from what Dad say. She looked at me and Sage.

"I want to eat." Bigla niyang saad. Sage and I looked at each other.

I rise from my seat. "Kukuha ako ng pagkain, Ma. Anong gusto mo?" Tanong ko.

"What can I eat?" She asked Dad.

Bumalik ako sa kuwarto bitbit ang ilang prutas. I opened the door and saw Mom seating in her bed. Sage is still beside her holding her hand.

"Where's Dad?" Taka kong tanong nang hindi makita si Daddy roon.

"He went to the company. Pinabalik ko. Ayaw nga eh ang tigas ng ulo." She laughed.
