Hayes' POV;
The party was making me tired, it was getting packed too. I just wanted to be alone for awhile, even though its my party, but I decided to go down the lake. It was only 5:00, people are still going to be here for awhile. I sat on the edge of the dock, skipping rocks in. I heard someone sit down next to me. It was Ann. "Hey" She said.
"Hi" I smiled.
"What have you been doing down here?" She asked.
"How did you know that I would be here?"
"I remembered you telling me that you like coming down here to "get away" you still didn't tell me why you're down here" She grabbed a rock tossing it.
"Too loud, were you looking for me?" I questioned.
"Yeah kinda, I like being around you. You're fun to be around" she lightly laughed.
"I like being around you too" I admitted. She just smiled at me. Maybe I should ask her on a date, what could go wrong? I had all these doubt's, but I pushed them back.
"Ann?" I said.
"Mmh?" She mumbled staring at the water, swing her feet back and forth.
"Would you like to go out-" I got cut off by her phone ringing.
"Sorry, can you give me a minute? it's my mom" she said getting up to walk away.
"Okay," I said as she answered the phone."hello?" She said, I just stared at her, watching her actions. Her movement when she walked and talked. "Really? I'll be there in about 5 minutes!" she hung up, smiling.
"What happened?" I stood up to see her face better.
"I gotta go home now, will you walk with me?" She asked.
"Wait I wanna ask you something" I said walking closer towards her.
"Can't you ask me on the way out?" She looked up at me.
"No, I wanna do it here" I said.
"Hayes, my dad is here! If you have to ask me here, then you'll have to do it another time, I want to see him now!" she started walking away.
"Ann wait, I'll walk you home" I said, not wanting her to get mad at me."You can come in if you want" Ann said as we got to her door step.
"It's fine. I'm going to go home now. Everyone at the party is possibly looking or wondering where I am" I said.
"Right. Goodnight Hayes" she smiled before I gave her a small smile and walked away. When I went inside my house people were still here, but some were leaving. Some of my friends from school were in the living room hanging out, "Hayes where have you been dude? We've been looking for you" Will asked."Sorry man, I was taking my friend home. And I was getting tired, so I chilled by myself for awhile" I said.
He nodded in responce, "I gotta go now. I'll see you later a guess" he shrugged walking out. He seemed pretty pissed at me, but I was being a douche to everyone by walking out on my party to "get away". Sometimes I like time to myself, just like everyone else.
As the time went on more people started to leave, honestly, this wasn't my best party. Once everyone left I went to the other room to be alone, again. I reget not asking Ann right then and there, it would've been prefect. Little strands of her hair was blowing from the light wind, and the sun shinning in her stightly tanned skin, then her eyes. Her eyes, they looked like the sunflower in a blue sky, going from yellow, into a light blue. I should've asked her. I'm going to ask her, now.
I walked out the room passing the kitchen, where Nash and Johnson were at. "where are you going?" Nash turned his head as I was speed-walking out.
"Asking Ann out" I smiled widely. I opened the front doors hearing cheers from some of the guys. I ran fast to her house, even though it was just across the street.I knocked on her door, she answered about 3 knocks later. "Hey Hayes" she was smiling so wide, her face was lit up with joy, I wish I could cause that.
"Look, forget meeting by the lake, asking you this there" she stopped me, again.
"Before you began, can I tell you this? I can't hold in the exictment any longer" she gripped her phone really hard, and jumping around a little too, showing she was really excited.
"Yeah, sure" I said.
"I'm going to Kentucky! I'm going to stay with my dad for awhile, maybe almost a month. I'm so excited! Aren't you exicted?" She said all at once, really fast.
"Yeah, I'm real happy for you." I nodded, and looked down at my feet. "Look I gotta go now" I said, there was no point asking now, if she's just going to be gone for awhile, or a month.
"But I thought you wanted to tell me something?" She pouted.
"Its not important, just ignore it" I said. I walked home, leaving her there.
