After about a week, the pain from your injury has faded.
But the hurt from losing a child is very much still there.
"Today's a big day." Jimin smiles, shimmying down on the bed until his face is directly in front of your growing belly. "We get to find out the gender, aren't you excited?" He pulls up your large t-shirt to reveal your swollen belly. Then he begins to pepper it with kisses, making you laugh at the feeling.
"Of course I'm excited." You reply. However when you look down at your stomach, you can't help but feel like there's something missing. Unfortunately, that something just can't be replaced.
A few days ago, Helena told you something that really stuck with you. She said that everything happens for a reason. And although it's hard to accept, it was meant to be this way.
It's just going to take you some time to come to terms with the fact that there's nothing you can do except move on. Blaming yourself or anyone else is not going to change that.
"What are you thinking about?" Jimin inquires, lifting his head from your stomach. His hands gently caress your skin, making you relax further into the bed.
"Nothing." You hum, smiling softly at him.
________
"So why are we going to the Blood Moon pack again?" Jimin asks, steering the horse and carriage through the well worn dirt path. You told him that you're perfectly fine and can steer the carriage yourself, but he insisted.
You're not sure if he's concerned about your injury, which is almost completely healed, or your pregnancy. Probably both.
"I never got the chance to thank Elyttra for everything." You reply. "Plus, I want to check on my brother."
Elyttra not only saved your life, but your entire pack. You don't know what you would've done without her if she hadn't shown up.
Now that you've seen how the alliance has truly come in handy, you want to thank her for being there when you needed her the most. You've only been discharged from the hospital last week and have been ordered to just rest for a while. But now you're feeling healthy enough to start getting back to normal.
It's not long before the two of you arrive upon the territory of the Blood Moon pack. You walk through the pack grounds until you reach the pack house. You had informed Hoseok about your plans, so your visit shouldn't be much of a surprise.
After you knock lightly, the door swings open to reveal your brother standing there with a wide smile. "Hey!" He pulls you into a gentle hug, being mindful of your stomach. "Oh my god, I can't believe I'm going to be an uncle." He mutters in disbelief. "Do you know the gender yet?"
You grin, pulling away from his embrace. "Actually, we have an appointment after- Christ, Hoseok, what happened to your face?" You exclaim, interrupting yourself. Now that you're so close, you can see the cut on his bottom lip and the bruise on his cheekbone.
