"Ugh, my back." You groan.
"Are you okay?" Jimin turns to you with worried eyes. "We can go home if you're not feeling well."
"No, I'm fine." You insist, peering down at the cause of your back ache. It's your huge stomach, of course. You're due in less than two weeks and it looks like the baby is going to pop out any minute now. "We need to start buying baby stuff, we're running out of time."
The only thing you've ordered so far is some furniture for the nursery, which Jimin and Yoongi are supposed to pick up later in the day. As for clothes, diapers and other necessities, you have nothing.
"Alright, we're here." Jimin pulls the horse to a stop in front of the baby supply store. He helps you out of the carriage before tying Mia up outside.
Then the two of you enter the store, with you waddling like a penguin from the weight of your stomach. Jimin seems to forget your struggle, walking far ahead of you to look at the shelves.
"Hey, slow down!" You whine, trying your best to keep up with him.
He turns around when he hears your voice, watching as you make your way towards him with a pout. Then he starts giggling, a soft look in his eyes. "Oh my god, you're adorable."
You roll your eyes at his words. When you finally reach him, he pulls you close by your waist and looks into your eyes.
"What?" You mutter after a few moments.
"Nothing, it's just.." He smiles softly. "..I'm so happy to be starting a family with you. And I can't wait to meet our baby girl."
Yes, you heard that right. You're having a daughter. One that you will raise to become a strong and independent woman who is capable of leading a pack.
"I'm really excited too." You grin, leaning closer to peck his lips. "Now let's start shopping."
"Diapers, check." You cross the item off of your mental checklist, looking at the large box in Jimin's arms. "Now let's look at clothes."
"Oh my god, this is so tiny!" Jimin coos, holding up a light purple onesie with stars all over it.
"This one is perfect." You grin, taking it from his hands and adding it to your small pile of clothes.
By the time you and Jimin finally leave the store, your arms are full of bags. This is a successful shopping trip if you've ever seen one.
And when you arrive back at the pack house, you head straight to the nursery. It's a small room directly next to your room, one that you always saved specifically for your future kids.
It's very empty right now, but soon it will be filled with all of your baby essentials.
"So the crib will go there.." You point to a spot against the wall. "..the rocking chair will go there, and the changing table will be over there."
"What about my decorations?" Jimin pouts, coming up behind you and gently wrapping his arms around your stomach. He's referring to the adorable paintings and small toys he bought for the room.
"We'll put them up later, baby." You reassure him, relaxing against his hold.
"Before or after we put together the crib?" He raises an eyebrow.
"I thought the crib came assembled." You blink at him in confusion.
He purses his lips, shaking his head. "Nope."
"God dammit." You groan.
"It won't take too long, I promise." He kisses your cheek. "Now speaking of the crib, everything should be ready to pick up. I'll be back, okay?"
"Mhm." You hum and he releases you from his hold, leaving the room.
Now that you're alone, you look around the room with a small smile. It's crazy to think that you're here in this moment, about to expand your family for the very first time. It's hard to explain exactly how you feel, you're excited but also nervous since you don't know exactly what to expect. You just know that you have a lot of challenges ahead of you.
Maybe this is something you should be writing down.
Before you left the store, you saw a small journal that caught your eye. It was probably for documenting your pregnancy or your baby's milestones, but you immediately thought of the diaries you saw in the library all that time ago.
You think it's time that you start one yourself.
So you pull the empty journal out of the bag and grab a pen from the other room. Then you sit cross legged on the floor and open up to the first page.
You stare at the blank space for a moment, wondering where exactly you should start. From the day you first met your mate? From your father's death? From when you found out you were pregnant?
Those were all very impactful moments in your life. But after you lost one of your twins, you promised yourself that you would live in the moment. So what better time to start from than right now?
So you just start writing about what you feel. Rather than thinking about who might read it, you just focus on getting all of your thoughts out. You get through two, three pages, just letting your mind take your pen wherever it wants.
When you hear a loud noise at the door, you flinch in surprise.
"Where did you say you wanted this again?" Yoongi asks, carrying a rocking chair in his arms.
"Oh." You stand up, noticing his presence. "You can put that over there, thanks." You point to the spot you already picked out for the rocking chair to go.
He nods, setting it down as Jimin enters the room with the changing table. You can tell that he's struggling with the weight a bit, but he doesn't complain as he carries it to where you wanted it.
After Yoongi brings up the box filled with the parts of the crib, he leaves you and Jimin alone to put it together.
So the two of you get situated on the floor, fiddling with screws and pieces of wood. You squint at the instruction manual that may as well have been written in small print, due to how tiny the words are.
"It says that we're supposed to lay these four pieces out on the floor and then- oh!" You gasp when you feel sudden movement taking place in your lower stomach.
You look down at your stomach and then up at Jimin. His eyes widen with concern. "What is it? Did your water break? Is it contractions?"
You shake your head, bringing a hand up to where you feel the movement coming from. To your surprise, it is detectable from the outside as well. Strong and steady pushes against your palm. "I think..I think she's kicking."
Jimin gets on his knees, quickly moving to your side with excitement and curiosity. "Here." You grab his hand, placing it where yours was just moments before.
"Woah." He mumbles, staring down at your stomach with wonder. "I think she's as excited to meet us as we are."
"I think so too." You grin.
